Did your mag release button really rust?

Yes. It feels like it is plastic, but it is not. Mine is MIM. Life basically got in the way and I didn't do my nightly wipe down for a couple of weeks. I had to cycle all the rounds out then banged on the release until I got the mag out. I was shocked and I should have taken pictures. After removing it I hit it with a Dremel to clean it up and now its G2G. I hit it once a week with a drop or two of oil. From what I understand SOME are plastic.
