    Bersa Thunder .380

Hi, picked up a like-new, bi-tone Bersa .380 for $200 /w 3 mags and original box/papers. It looks like it's only been fired maybe a few times. It seemed like a good deal and I've heard good things about these pistols so I figured why not. Is there anything in particular I should know about these guns? Any recommended upgrades?

    Thanks.

I like mine as it came. Extra mags / ammo is all mine has called for.

I just started reloading 380 just so I can shoot it more often.

      Enjoy!

      BTW - Agreed. Great deal.

        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I don't know how the .380 shoots, but I like my Bersa Thunder 9 Ultracompact. It's reliable and no frills, meaning it's for shooting and not collecting. The only down side is that the magazines are expensive.

Geez, you got a terrific deal. My wife has one, never given us a problem.

I've thought about picking one up, for that price I'd have bought it in a heartbeat.

The recoil spring is not symmetrical. Putting it on backwards can cause feed/extraction errors. The small coil goes towards the breech, the large to the muzzle.

Don't pull the trigger when the grip panels are off. There is a spring that is held captive by the panel and it will fly, followed by curse words.

You can pick up parts such as holsters and grip panels from condorsflight, if they are still in business. I can't get to the web page now but I'm having problems going to other sites as well, so it may be my part of the internet entanglement that is having issues.

I got grip panels with finger grips from condorsflight, it helped diminish the sting of the gun. Recoil is mild but it has a stinging component to it.

The bersa chat page is at http://www.bersachat.com/forums/forum.php

Postscript: Got thru to the condorsflight page, they are still there. The site is incredibly slow at the moment so I'd try it on another day (this is labor day, maybe it's having labor pains).

Thanks for all the help, guys. I saw it on a bulletin board at Phillip's Wholesale this past Saturday morning and ended up PPT'ing it on Sunday morning. I saw them going for $400 - $500 on GunBroker and figured it was way too hard to pass up. I'm surprised nobody else snagged it before I did because it seemed the ads had been up for at least a little while.

I picked up a DeSantis Pocket Tuk holster on Midway for $13; you can wear it in your pocket or IWB.

congrats; excellent deal. i have no history with Bersa, but have only heard and read good things about them. i was tempted to buy one some time ago, but already having a w german Sig P230SL snuffed out the idea.
