So I was given around 600 rounds of .45 of unknown origin. I am fairly certain all but some of the surplus rounds are reloads. Most are SWC with a few round nose lead projectiles. Based on a recent thread here in the handgun section it sounds like there shouldn't be any issues attempting to use them in a 1911 (Sig) or Glock 21, just might not run well and lead could build up.
However, I think the bigger issue is whether or not I trust some stranger to have accurately reloaded them. I did some searching and it seems the two biggest risk are either too much or too little powder resulting in a kaboom or a squib. Is there anything I can do to mitigate the risk of either?
For the sake of a few bucks I don't want to risk life, limb or weapon. What do you guys think, too risky?
