    HK VP9 perfomance thread.....

I have posession of my first VP9 and have observed the following:

    - Weapon was field stripped, cleaned and lubed with CLP when picked up. It HAS NOT BEEN CLEANED SINCE and will not be cleaned until it reaches 2000 rnds fired or a stoppage.. whchever is first.
    - Using factory HK 10 round magazines

    So far:

Rounds 1 -300: New factory Federal 115gr. FMJ target ammo: NO STOPPAGES MALFUNCTIONS
Rounds 301 - 500: New factory Fiocchi 125gr, FMJ ammo: NO STOPPAGES MALFUNCTIONS
Rounds 501 - 650 : magazines with two types of ammo above mixed: NO STOPPAGES MALFUNCTIONS

I will post again if there is a malfunction or problem when I get to 2000 rounds.

      Good to hear.

I ran 200 rounds of Winchester NATO without issue and also ran 50 rounds of Federal HST 124 grain without issues as well.

First Vp9 - Freedom 115 grain remanuf. Stoppageges constiantly for first 200 rounds. Then no more since then (2.5 k rounds or so)

All other 3 VP9's new 115 grain, 124 grain, hollowpoints no stoppages.

I never have and never will shoot Wolf Ammo in any of my firearms. I refuse to support a Russian arms manufacturer with my $$$. I dont shoot reloads either, mainly because of the inconsistant nature of them, especailly recently with the ammo shortage... sorry. The only time I have shot reloads is at a public range with a rented gun that required I only shoot the ranges reloads in it.

            No worries.

Just wanted to see if its really that reliable like some reviews say it is.

Time to start loading your own man. Factory ammo is expensive.

I managed to get some FTF with my starting loads for Hornady 124gr flat points. Book has mixed data on seating depth so I just seated them as long as possible but ensured the fit in the chamber properly.

Once I upped the charge no more stopages, but I was almost thinking it was because I needed to change the seating depth as well, but maybe the starting loads were just too weak (at least for a gun that isn't broken in yet). I have like another 25 left to use for more testing, before my shipment of 1000 hollow base 124gr Berrys prototypes come in. I might even try loading them a little hotter to ensure reliability. They all shot pretty accurate at 7 yards though. I was loading 3.9gr HP-38, but the 25 4.2gr loads with HP-38 functioned perfectly even with a full magazine.

It was fairly easy to get most of my groups within 2" and I'm honestly not all that great at shooting pistols.

I pretty much only shoot reloads but I do admit I bought a couple boxes of blazer brass while I waited for my reloading dies to ship. Midway had the 9mm hornady die sets on clearance.

I'm at 600 rounds no malfunctions, not cleaned at all even from the factory.

I was always told to clean the heavy preservative grease off guns new from the factory. Not the case with HKs, the VP9, or in general?

An interesting experiment, but for everyone else NOT running this experiment ... clean and lube your guns. I mean, you just bent over backwards and then bent over forwards to buy this gun ... treat it well. Clean it and lube it.
