I like the trigger better on the PPS but the Shield is slightly more concealable and has an extra round. The gun, mags, and accessories for the Shield are generally a lot cheaper, too.

I have around 700 rounds through my Shield. The trigger is pretty good for its intended purpose.

I have a PPS in jail. It does have a better trigger, it's slightly longer, and I believe that grip length with the 6 round flush fitting mag equals the 7 round flush fitting mag of the Shield.

I hope the PPS replaces the Shield for me, but I won't know until I take it to a range where the slow-fire rule doesn't apply.

The Shield also seems to come in a cardboard box instead of a hard case. Case, mag, sights vs ~$200 difference.

I considered waiting to check out the Walther CCP with its slick recoil management but might run out of SSE time before it comes out. Also field stripping requires tool.

OP just curious, did you rule out the XDs?

I've had a 9mm PPS for quite some time now---like it quite a lot---shot maybe 500-600 rds thru it---no issues. I've held, but not shot a Shield and agree the trigger is a lot rougher (but but that seems fixable) and the finish is not quite as nice as the Walther---I am sure either would be fine in a bad situation...
