    Colt Peacekeeper -

It's an interesting one - Hideous finish - Parts of it looks like it's been wired brushed - But it shoots like a dream -

    Anyone else have/shot one?

You're right about the finish, but how does it shoot?

Probably the best one word description of that factory finish is... offensive.

They weren't popular based on such cost cutting issues.

I remember when they came out with these and others, attempting to lower prices to compete.

Be that as it may, I'll bet it's a shooter. Please post up some targets.

Wow, looks like they used old tooling to machine that barrel.

I had a 6" one that was great. I wish I had never sold it.
            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I talked my best friend into buying one in Sacramento for $200 in the late 1980s. Six inch barrel, shoots fantastic. He still has it.

Btw, as I heard it, this wasn't a cost cutting measure so much as a response to a labor strike at Colt. The few managers with experience putting the finish on guns were dedicated to the Python line. So they parkerized Troopers and called them Peacekeepers instead of sending Troopers out the door with sub-standard finish.

You use a Colt Single Action Army to make the peace; you use this gun to keep it. Click for larger image This is the Colt Peacekeeper...

OP, did you pick that up recently?

I bought a 6" model brand new in the late 1980's. Looks-wise, nothing to write home about. A great shooter all the way.

I remember those when they came out---Colt was going thru labor troubles (the unions really ****** that one up) and prices were going up---thus the crappy finish, for a Colt. Other than the finish, they were fine revolvers---a great "truck" gun...

Looks to me like rough machining, them parkerized. Shoot and enjoy, don't try to refinish.
