Sphinx. It beats my tuned CZ 75 B SAO.

Also there are far fewer Sphinx pistols in private ownership compared to the VP 9 so you are more likely to find a VP9 via SSE than the Sphinx. You will pay more but you have better chances of acquiring a VP9.

I just picked up my Sphinx 2 weeks ago, shot it a week ago, that trigger is a dream to shoot, although the PPQ is still my edc/ccw.
I'm suppose to get my VP9 from Audiophil2 this week. I will do a shooting comparison with the Sphinx, PPQ, and VP9. 2 of the 3 will be on my ccw along with a Walther PPS.

For what it's worth, I've been in contact with Sphinx & they're sending a T&E gun to Milt Sparks. I have my order in with Milt Sparks for a VM2 for the Sphinx. Currently there are only Kydex holsters for the Sphinx, so Milt Sparks will be the first leather company.

I can't tell you one or the other, personal preference, but I'll be able to tell you how they shoot side by side in a few weeks.

That would be awesome! An actual side by side by side comparison.
        Can't wait...

They are both rather different pistols. It is really along the lines of if you want another Da/Sa pistol or Da only striker. They each have their own merits but I think that is what the decision comes down to. For that price tag though, I am more inclined to go with a custom CZ P-07 from Cajan Gunworks where not only will it be cheaper, but you'd end up with a better pistol at the end of the day vs the SDP.

I contacted Cajun Gun Works on a CZ P09. During the conversation I asked him about the Sphinx SDP compared to the regular CZ. He said, the Sphinx was well beyond a CZ. I'd go SDP. Again, I started a similar thread. I just don't know if it worth $1100.

I also contacted Sphinx/Kriss and they said, they were doing everything possible to get the full size out before the end of the year. The full size I would definitely jump on.

Never shot, held or saw in person the SDP but from pics and research it reminds me of a sig with a high bore axis and trigger a mile long. Not my fancy... That said I am not a HK fan traditionally either but i held a VP9 in a shop the other day and ended up putting a deposit on it now only 2 more slots open....DOH! The ergos were better than my ppq and the trigger was just about as good! I was impressed for sure!

The Sphinx looks interesting. Guessing that its probably made well coming from the Swiss.
Just wondering about any support if needed. How about long term support, like 5 years from now?

On the other side of the coin, I like the VP9.

P07 to a SDP is like a $1k 1911 compared to a $2500 semi custom 1911. Sure the cheaper 1911 can be tuned so that accuracy wise it's on par with the semi custom. But the actual craftsmanship of the two will never be on par. But if that doesn't matter to you then the cheaper option is likely better.

Now as for vp9 vs SDP those are quite different guns and it becomes a matter of personal preference. Could depend on what other guns you have and what you appreciate in a gun. I'd opt for a vp9 and maybe even a p07 for around the same cost of the SDP. Sphinx has some nice models but the SDP doesn't really do it for me. Then again I need to find someone who let me shoot theirs and see how it compares to a modded p07 I've shot.

David @ CGW said that the Sphinx is the Rolex of CZs. That says a lot coming from one of the best CZ gunsmiths out there. I'm not into compact pistols, which is why I never ended up getting a CZ 75 Compact or a P-01, but the SDP looks interesting.

They are imported by KRISS. If anything arises, it will all be taken care of.

It does not have a high bore axis or a mile long trigger. I'm sorry but whatever you concluded with your research is dead wrong. I've shot 750 rds through my SDP and find the recoil to be very manageable as if the gun is a full size not a compact. The trigger is around 3 lbs with a short reset that will make you unintentionally double tap if you are not careful with it.

I am not disagreeing that the SDP is better out of the box, what I am suggesting is getting the tuned version of either the P-07 or the P-09 from Cajun Gunworks.

They are $698 for the p-09 and $675 for the P-07 with the following aftermarket upgrades already installed.

                                * 9100 CGW Hammer Kit delivers a crisp SA, short reset, and reduces SA pre-travel
                                * 92030 Short Reset Kit that cuts the SA reset 50% and reduces up to 80% of SA pre-travel
                                * 97910 CGW Ultra-Lite Kit replaces the factory springs and includes our superb 61050 "Perfection" firing pin
                                * 97058 CGW oversized DA roller for optimal timing
                                * Trigger drilled and tapped for single-action over-travel

For a fraction of the cost of the SDP, I would argue a tuned P-07 or a P-09 from Cajun Gunworks would be significantly better than the SDP. Add another $104 and have night sights installed as well. You still have $300 extra for whatever else you may want.
