Have any of you guys had any experience with the new Pro sear with the Apex striker block? Trying to decide if I can get away with buying just the block or if I should buy what appears to be the FSS kit without the trigger.

Coming from an admitted 1911 guy, I must say I have been pretty impressed with my M&P with TS and Apex FSS. I have been shooting this setup for a few months while my Nighthawk has been in the shop getting some work done. The trigger is great, short and crisp wih a nice reset. For a 1911 pacifier, I like it much more than I thought I would. I guess it's somewhat true when they say this is the 1911 enthusiast's "gateway drug" to polymer pistols.
^^+1 on this!
As my handle clearly states I am a 1911 aficionado, but after putting the Apex FSS poly trigger kit in my M&P, I have come to love competing with it almost as much as with my 1911s. It has a sub 3lb trigger, limited overtravel, and the takeup is much more manageable than the long, nearly DA-like stock trigger.I voted against Obama before it was cool.
Originally posted by 1911LuvrI beg to differ. The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!Comment

I have no experience with the Pro sear. However I would just get the whole kit. The poly trigger is so much better than the stock one. I also think the Apex trigger reduces the take up more than without. I think.
And yes take up and reset is similar to a 1911. The break is clean and smooth, but not to the extreme glass-like break of a 1911. My trigger pull comes to about 5.5lbs(with heavier duty/carry spring) but actually feels like 4lbs. Because of the 1911 similarity I prefer this set-up with a thumb safety, for carry.Do I look like I'm ready for homework?Comment

They have the MP compact... pretty much S&W version of the g26/27..its pretty much the same sized frame as the shield but double stack making it thicker..Comment

I agree on the trigger being better than stock, but trying to keep the gun production eligible. I have a full FSS kit in my 9 that I will transferring into the Pro, and putting the Pro parts in the full size 9. May just get the whole kit and hang onto the tugger in case I decide to use it. It would be even better if S&W were to stop using that horrible hinged trigger and using the apex design so it can pe used in SSP and ProductionComment

I added the Apex trigger kit and the aluminum trigger on my M&P40 VTAC and I must say that it became one of my favorite pistols to shoot. Trigger is set at 5lbs but feels much lighter than my pistols with 4.5lb triggers due to the crisp clean Apex break. No way I'm getting rid of this pistol. I then purchased the trigger kit & aluminum trigger for my M&P 9 Pro but have yet to install it. Can't wait to install it.sigpicComment

An FSS kit without the FSS trigger is pretty useless as the sear isn't meant to function with the stock trigger.
As a matter of fact, you can't use the polymer AEK trigger, in place of the polymer FSS trigger, with the FSS action parts. Each trigger controls travel and over travel differently...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

Same here. I had a M&P 45 back in 2011 with an Apex DCAEK. It was very accurate for a polymer 45, but it just fell out of favor with me, so I sold that to fund a G19 instead.
Skip to 2014 and now I own a SA 1911....go figure.Comment
