Latest m&p models with apex trigger sets.

Are freakin nice. I thought this deserved its own thread to underscore that this latest gen of APEX equipped MPs holds its own against the new strikers out there. With SSE ending, I would highly recommend looking to put a CORE, Pro, or compact model on your list. Extremely short take up, short tactile reset, and 5lb or less pull depending upon you choice of springs for duty/carry or comp application.

I have a fullsize 9mm with APEX DCAEK, RAM and polymer AEK trigger. It's one of the best shooting guns I've owned.
We in Bangor, Maine now baby.

I agree, these are some of my favorite modified pistols. M&P's are nice out of the box, and incredible with a little bit of APEX magic.

I got one for my GF... Even with the Apex FSS trigger, she still goes back to the Glock 17. I'm almost sure that I'm not going to keep it. I say almost just because I've only shot a box of ammo through it. I feel like I haven't given it a fair chance yet.

I had a m&p 45 that had a fss. Awesome shooting pistol like a laser but it never spoke to me and even though it was accurate and reliable I always found myself going back to glock, ppq, and vp9

so the newer Pros, cores and compacts are equipped with aftermarket Apex trigger kit? Hows the compact size compared to a glock 19 and glock 26? I'm looking to replace my shield with something a tad bigger.
            Have a good day!

Oh, no they don't come with them equipped. The newer MP models have improved triggers and accuracy. Adding an APEX just takes it over the top.

I have to say I was one of those suckers who've been saying my stock M&P was fine. 3 years and 15-20k rounds and it fit like a glove, but the accuracy was inconsistent even shooting from a sandbag rest. I recently put the ploy FSS kit in and with the reduced over travel, it made all the difference in the world when it comes to consistent accuracy.

Prior to the kit, the gun shot perfectly fine for defensive purposes, but depending on the day, I would keep all rounds in 3" and other days, lucky if I could keep all rounds inside 5" at 10 yards. I never knew it was because the excessive over travel caused the gun to jerk that last fraction of a second while the gun was firing even when it was on a rest. With the FSS kit, even an old (3 year old) M&P can be made to shoot better so long as the shooter does his part.

Hint: get the poly trigger kit. It's less expensive, the trigger has smoother edges and it's very easy to drift the roll pin in and out compared to the monstrously tight roll pin in the metal trigger kit.

Mine is at the smith getting various upgrades, including the aluminum trigger kit as we speak I like the feel of the aluminum's flat front compared to the poly version.

Coming from an admitted 1911 guy, I must say I have been pretty impressed with my M&P with TS and Apex FSS. I have been shooting this setup for a few months while my Nighthawk has been in the shop getting some work done. The trigger is great, short and crisp wih a nice reset. For a 1911 pacifier, I like it much more than I thought I would. I guess it's somewhat true when they say this is the 1911 enthusiast's "gateway drug" to polymer pistols.

I was surprised how nice the factory trigger was on my 9mm Pro, but I put the competition Apex package in anyway, and it made it even better.

Just special ordered a M&P pro 5" 40sw today, and I guess I'll have to start saving for the apex. Everyone says how good the apex triggers are so I might have to get it for my shield and the pro.

Don't the newest M&P's have factory trigger pulls comparable to DCAEK's? minus the USB?

I still felt an improvement when I put a DCAEK + polymer into a newly manufactured M&P9 FS... though admittedly, it was the CA model (mid 2014 test fire casing date). The gunsmith that installed it did say that the trigger action on it was way better than old ones he had worked on previously.

Anyone had issues putting them into CORE's (.40, late 2013 test fire casing date)? Same gunsmith had a hell of a time getting the DCAEK to work even though he had no trouble with the 9, and couldn't get it to work with the Apex polymer trigger at all. Again, he said the trigger was still pretty good to start with.

I did notice that the CORE has the circular frame plug where a safety might go, while the CA FS9 had the square notch plug, indicating a different sear housing block. Also, the CORE had a significantly "floppier" trigger bar - lots of lateral movement during pull, and way easier to push around with my thumb. The trigger bar in the FS9 was much stiffer and tracks straight forward and back like it's on rails.

Improved yes, but comparable? No IMO. I just picked mine up and have felt the trigger on another gun previously. I noticed the reset and break on the Shield was much better than my older version FS9, but take up is still similar. With the Apex, take up is almost immediate, pull is smoother and break is also noticeably improved.
