If anyone is wanting to try before they buy and are in the san jose / santa clara area.

I was at reeds the other day and noticed they had a decent selection on custom 1911's to rent:

- Wilson Combat CQB ( seemed like it had a lot of rounds through it but trigger was nice and broken in)
-NightHawk GRP - worker said they just got it in and it was still not broken in yet and slide was still pretty tight.
-Les Baers - didn't see which models exactly but did see a ThunderRanch.

Does anyone know of any places in San Diego?

I can't believe there is a place that spends that kind of money on a Wilson Combat, or a Nighthawk Custom, or any of the high end 1911's, and puts it up for rent!!!! I've never seen anyplace do that before. Wish they did that where I live.

There is a place in San Diego that rents a Wilson CQB and a Nighthawk GRP. It's called Iron Sights and they are in Oceanside. They also have a CBOB and many others to choose from.

SSE in Redding

There are at least two places here in Redding that do SSE. At least that I know of. There are a lot of small FFL holders that may be doing it as well. But the indoor shooting range here in Redding does SSE, and it is called "Nice Shot". And a gun store called "Jones' Fort" does SSE.

Picked Up One Today!!!

The 10 day wait on the first of these SSE 1911's was over this morning at 9:20 AM. I picked up the Nighthawk Custom GRP in 10mm and brought her home. Never has a pistol felt so right in my hand. It has Heinei Ledge 3 dot night sights on it, and the front sight blade has the tritium insert inside a nice bright white outline so that you can see it easier in low light conditions. Unlike my Les Baer Custom Carry and my Ed Brown Special Forces which have just plain Trijicon night sights that are hard to see in low light. I liked it so much that I called Nighthawk Customs and sent in the slides for both the Les Baer and the Ed Brown to have them install that type of front sight blade.

Was this gun worth the three grand? It was to me. That is for sure. It was the best money I ever spent.
