Do you have a factual/experiential basis for that opinion?
I know a GM class shooter who is looking at cleaning up a P320 to use in USPSA Production. Out if the box, with a gritty trigger, he was getting 3" groups at 50 yards...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

Just because I've seen a beetle outrun an M5 on the drag strip doesn't mean I'm going to start fearing them at a stoplight. With enough time and experience I'm sure any gun could make a competition gun, however some platforms are easier to start with than others. I'm assuming you'll agree with that based on your own description of the p320's "gritty trigger."Comment

4.7 inch barrel.
6.6 inch sight radius.
Nice clean striker fired trigger with short reset.
Yeah, I can see it work in Production Class. Only drawback I see is the high bore axis might slow down follow up shots compared to a Glock or S&W M&P.Comment

Glock 34 is awesome if the finger grooves don't bug you.
I had a Gen 4 and it was an incredible gun, made expert with it in less than 4 months of trigger time.
After about 3000 rounds I noticed the knuckle on my middle finger had formed a giant callous, and if I screwed up on a draw the finger grooves were a hindrance to a quick adjustment of my hands.
I decided it was easier to just find a better fitting pistol than it was to train my hands to feel natural with a pistol.
Another good option is the FNS9 Long slide. It's a lot like the Glock 34 (low bore axis, ergonomically compatible with the modern grip) but without the finger grooves.Comment

If the finger grooves don't work with you, just grind em off. I plan on doing that eventually to s g19... 17 and 34 are like buttah. I'd say get the gen4 while you can. The core is cool if you plan on slapping an optic on immediately, but I'd rather have someone mill the 34 slide for a mount base. A shop around here quoted me 175 for that, which seemed pretty reasonable.
Imo glocks just work...Comment
