A gun no matter the brand or model is only worth what someone is willing to pay. I know exactly what I am looking at..... a beat up gun that might be worth half what a nice specimen is worth.

People here act like these guns are forged by God and oiled with unicorn jizz. It's a beat up Colt that will cost a lot to restore, it's not worth a premium.

It's not made of unicorn jizz. It's the marque gun of The Walking Dead. That's probably worth more.

I think it's worth a bunch more than $900. Regardless of popularity. These revolvers are considered the finest production revolvers ever made, and they haven't been made in about a decade. Couple to that they can't be brought into California very easily, and the only ones typically available are CA owned PPTs. No consignments.

Need more and better pics. Especially of the right side, the breech face, and the cylinder (especially the turn ring). Only see left side pics and those aren't very good. Also getting it off the carpet and onto a solid white background might be a good start (not to mention a good wipe down with a lint-free silicone cloth). You mentioned no manual or box... how bout the original grips?

Btw, that is a 6" barrel.

Those pics look heavily photoshopped/filtered, can you check it out in real life before making any decisions?

Look at the wear on the grips.

As others had said, it's a 6" with three vents on the barrel. Four vents would be an 8" Python.
I could be wrong here but I don't believe those rubber grips were ever part of the original package sent out by Colt. They did send out Pythons with Pachmayr black rubber "Gripper" grips but they had the gold rampant colt (full or half figured body) medallions. The replacement grips in your photo have Pachmayr factory medallions. In either case it's such a shame to have any wraparound grip on a Python because they completely hide the full fluted backstrap.

acpbrain, Are the grips on the 8" originally from the Colt factory? Again, Pachmayr medallions.

highpower, I think your being too conservative on your grip pricing. I would pencil in $400.00-$500.00 for a nice set of Colt walnuts. Those Pachmayrs can be had for $20.00.

Bluing look nice, you can easily sell it for $1500+, maybe even around $1800.

They made Pythons that were 38 Special ONLY. Thats a rare one, ive only seen a barrel for one.

Great looking Python except the grips,a nice set of original medallion types
will cost over $300 added to whatever someone pays for the gun. I watched
a bunch of Pythons on GB last week where the auctions ended on the same
day. Interesting that ones listed at 2000-2500 got no bids, ones that actually
sold were between 1500 and 2000, but they were all outside CA. The ones
that sold had their original grips and some had boxes they looked as good
as the one shown here. Pete
