My suggestion is to hit a few ranges that have rentals that fit your criteria. After running those you'll be able to zero in on what you like and what you don't. That should at least narrow your search a bit and hopefully help you decide what you want. At the very least you'll then be able to detail what you didn't like so others can help give suggestions.

The combat role for a pistol is easy to fill. There are lots of good choices out there.

The CC role however is more difficult to fulfill, especially with the additional assignment of a combat pistol; and how a particular pistol fills that requirement is going to depend on YOU. Recently, I was shooting with a guy who carries a Glock 19 IWB at 4 o'clock and that gun just disappeared on him under his shirt. For him, that Glock 19 easily works as a combat pistol and a CC gun. On the other hand, that very same pistol and holster combination on another guy printed heavily and he could never get away using it as a CC gun. He either need to change his carry position to appendix or get a different gun.

People can recommend this and that, but there really are no simple answers to your question and you are just going to have to try different options until you find something that you think works and will satisfy your needs. It's highly individual IMHO.

              I read the post twice.

I guess I am not sure what a combat model is and how it is different that the ccw model??

If that would be impossible, or a better way to approach this is to have two guns I'd be willing to have one for CCW and one for combat.

So, my criteria for a "combat" gun is..
6+ round minimum. 14 round maximum (I do not like carrying empty magazine space.. it bugs me.)
                              At least 9mm ballistics.
                              Reliability , durability.

                              Criteria for a CCW...
                              IWB or pocket size
                              Prefer higher round count
                              Prefer higher firepower
Prefer low presure rounds, ie 9's and 45's over 40's 10mm's.

I've looked at shield 9's, sig p238, p938, glock 42, glock 26, but im willing to use whatever is best. Willing to xfer off roster weapons. I perfer a gun with ten rounds stock or with extended mags. Reliability, comfort and durability are most important.
