CZ-75?

Vasalating between a 45 and a 40 cal.
Reason for the 40 cal consideration is I already have a 40 cal Shield
and several 9mm, if I get a 45 it's one more flavor of ammo to stock :-)
So I'd like opinions on the CZ-75

CZ 75 in .40 is a fine shooting gun, especially if you like the caliber. And it seems like you do. It is a heavy gun that mitigates much of the recoil. Resale value, however, is not as good as the 9mm version based on my observation. Maybe because the preference on caliber?

Have you shot one yet? Or any CZ?

Get a cz 97b, you wont be disappointed. By far one of my favorite handguns that i have owned or do own. Find one, buy it, and shoot it you will be happy

No I have not shot one yet.
Alternative would be a Springfield XD 40
A LGS has a very gently used Colt 45 in SS it's just a bit more than I intended to spend and again a different ammo to stock pile LOL
Really sucks to be in Calif for the limited choices we have.

I don't have a .40cal CZ, but have a 9mm and .45. Both are awesome and I'd imagine a .40 cal CZ to be the same.

I just picked up a 40 it's still in jail but i definitely want the 97b 45 now. I was really impressed with the quality. I like it better than my new sig p227. It's a really solid feeling pistol because it's all steel.

^^^Yes, it is also awesome, so long as one is happy with the caliber. But if one is compromising on the caliber because the 9mm could not be found, I suggest waiting and getting the 9mm version to show up and not compromise.

OP, try renting one, any CZ. See if you like how small the slide is as that seems to be the main complaint from new owners.

And yeah, the CZ 97B (.45 ACP) is truly awesome I can't say enough good things about that gun!

I own a 75b in .40.
Shoots pretty mild for a .40 insanely accurate. If you do want one I would suggest single action only. Very good guns.

Love my CZ75 in .40! Smokin HOT! Sexy and dead on! Hell.. I bought a CZ82 (9x18 Makorov) for the wife... That thing is dead on, light and also a winner!

But after a day of shooting... she says she prefers my CZ75 @ .40!!

CZ97 is on my list too....

I'd get a 75 in .40 and add a 9mm barrel if you want to later!

i'm looking to add a CZ 75 P-06 (.40 cal) to my 9mm SP-01 and .45 97B.

Love the SP-01, but can't honestly say the 97B has completely won me over yet. It is competing with an Ed Brown Special Forces for my fave 45 though, so that's probably a factor.

I vote no on this word "vacillating" all together, i do not like it.


I vote yes on a CZ 97B over a CZ75 in .40.

But i think you might have to SSE the 97B due to the currently available version not being on the roster. I am not 100% on this, i think i have heard it mentioned a few times here on calguns. Hopefully someone can verify or disprove this.

CZ 97 B (Black) 01401 / Steel

this is the one on the roster until the end of the year. of course once sse ends so does the availability of the gun. I cant find it anywhere either. I cant even find the new one the 01411. sad panda.
