I purchased 2 glocks recently a Gen4 34 and Gen3 17, what I noticed is that there is a scratch on the barrel on both of them from the factory where it touches the recoil spring.

Is it caused because of the recoil spring touching it? is it normal?
yes, quite normal. The recoil guide rod assembly rubs against the botttom of the barrel in a straight line, like this. The wear around the outside diameter of barrel is also normal.

I've never chipped the mag well, but first time I took my new Glock 17 to the range I go to I gave it a good throw, just so I would never have to worry about scratching it, and oh boy did that scratch the hell out of it

It's difficult for me to relate to "safe queens". Same thing with "collector guitars". Some guys buy them as an investment (LOL) to never play them. From my point of view, buying guns to not shoot them or buying guitars to never play them would be a lot like not having sex with your girlfriend, because you're saving her for the next guy...

Just the way I feel about it...to each his own.
Laws against murder and attempted murder should have been the only gun control laws ever needed in America...

                That's actually a Glock 19 Gen 2.
You can tell by the RTF frame texture.

Glock 19 Gen 1 has the smooth non-RTF frame texture.
