    Glock barrel scratch

    Hello,

I purchased recently a Gen3 G17L, what I noticed is that there is a scratch on the barrel from the factory where it touches the recoil spring.

Is it caused because of the recoil spring touching it? is it normal?

Scratch? Or wear on the blueing coating? Its normal for them to get a cosmetic wear pattern right there and on the top.

If its really a scratch then we are going to need to see photos. But guessing from you saying they both have it, its just the wear pattern.

they are brand new guns, no rounds fired other than at the factory.
It looks like the recoil spring might have removed the bluing where it touches the barrel when the gun is racked or fired. it doesn't look like the wear in the picture you posted.

        thanks

The guns are fine. Lube them up and go shoot them.

Glocks are just hammers, not art. They get scratched, dinged, wear on the slide, knock the sights off, chip the mag well, etc. Have you shot it yet?

FIFY. This is why I roll my eyes when every one whines and tears at their clothing over an "idiot" scratch on a 1911. It's a tool. If it's pretty, you're using it wrong (or not enough).
My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.

Depends, some guns are shooters and some are safe Queens. I don't think beetle shoots his collectors pieces.

Ok, now you are going to make me post my brothers 1st gen G19 over 200,000 rounds next to a used hammer. I can't tell the difference, can you?

I can, the grip on the hammer is more comfortable

Really it is normal, all Glock barrels rub the spring in that location. The finish wears just from the test shots and hand cycling, it will not cause any problems or get any worse. Nothing to worry about.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

LOL I actually have a hammer that has far more sentimental value than my Glocks. It was passed down from my grandfather to my father to me. closest thing I have to a safe queen!
