I have an M45 that I really like. Got it used a few years ago
lots of holster wear shoots great and on point.
Thinking about selling it to get something else , but having seconds thoughts.

Only us old guys would remember those. As I remember, they were good guns. Never fired one.

My grandfather has carried a Firestar for years. I find it to be a solid and accurate gun. I was looking at getting a Firestar a few years ago and I believe I read that it won Gun of the Year at one point.

I have seen a few pop up for sale in the Marketplace. They don't seem to fetch a lot of money but it is probably because it is not as well known.

If it shoots good and is reliable, I would keep it.

A friend has one in 9mm. His grandfather was a gunsmith and gave it to him or recommended it to him.

            Good shooting gun.

I had the M43 for a bit, great gun and pretty accurate for the size. Only real complaint was that it was pretty heavy for it's size. Granted, that also helped with the guns shootability, so it is a two way street.

Overall, I enjoyed having it, and obviously, regret selling it. Parts might be hard t come by though since I think the company went under some years ago.

A little general history. Star started about 1890 and built
guns for military and later supplied Isreal with and guns ,both military
and police. The FireStar hand gun semi autos came in 9mm Luger,40 S&W
and 45 ACP ( the one I have is the 45 FireStar 6 round magazine ).
The company went out of business in mid 1990s.
I made the holster in photo.

if it's working I would not sell it because as mentioned above you won't get hi resell it due to the fact that that they are not very well known.

I use to have one. It was very accurate. Finding parts was tough back then. The places that had parts have dried up now.

                          My first .40 pistol.

Sold it to my brother when I was young and foolish, and thought "more" was "better", to get a then new Glock G23.

Like the G23, wish I'd kept the Firestar .40.

It is still my brother's "cold, dead hands" pistol.

Yup. Once upon a time the Star PD was THE carry gun; it was one of very few lightweight (alloy frame) compact .45s out there. Great guns.

The Firestar M43 enjoyed a lot of success in the eighties as it was another in a small handful of compact full-power pistols. All steel but felt great in the hand.

I had blue one in 9mm and like a fool sold it but I am constantly on the look out for a low-mileage one in the 'Starvel' (electroless nickel) finish in 9mm. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
