One of my carry guns is a Gen 3 Glock 19. I also own both the Gen 3 G26 and G34. So I am kind of partial to the Gen 3. I am one of those that say the Gen 4 Glocks weren't necessary
I agree with Che762x39 that a Glock is just a Glock. Get a Gen 3 - I think you'll be satisfied with it.
The only Gen 4 Glock that I own is the G21 and in this case it was a big improvement over the Gen 3 G21 because of the adjustable handgrips. The Gen 3 G21 was too big for my hands but the Gen 4 G21 fits.Comment

I finally decided to SSE a gen 4... Now I have a gen 4 17, 19, 34, 42, and hopefully a 21, 22, and 29 before the end of the year.
If you don't get the trend, yes, I do believe it is worth it.Comment

Is a G4 worth 20% more than a G3? Is it 20% better, more reliable, more accurate? No it's not..

worth it Big time !!!
the Gen4 over the Gen3 worth it Big time,
much better grip and a lot of different with the recoil,
it have dual spring and it makes a huge different.
I own a Glock 21 Gen4 and I am going to get the Glock 23 Gen4 so that will be my CC one when i'll get me CCW.
BTW any one here know what's going on with the CCW law?
are we going to have it here in L.A county?Comment

i have shot both manny times and i am the owner of a gen4 g19, with that said the gen 4 is not that much better than the gen 3 to justify the longer drive and extra money. i definitely hear the point of sticking it to the state by buying the gen4. but the both pistols are great and would recommend them both.
if you have the time to drive then get the gen 4 but if not dont feel bad about the gen3 its just as good.
just my 2 centsComment

For the money, there are a lot nicer guns out there.*********************
WTS:
1. PW 800+ Hydro Multispeed (just the hydraulic unit that also works with Spolar press)
2. PW 800B converted to 800C (12 gauge) with lots of accessories and upgrades
3. Hornady 366 (12 gauge)

IMO, no not really. The features are nice, but actually worth the extra $100 and finding a shop if not local. I'd say just run a Gen3. 4's were just super hot when they came out cause everyone wanted one first or before everyone else. Forum has a lot of hipsters
Mag Release - is actually slightly harder to get to before moving your grip its actually sunken in more than my gen3 and a little stiffer and I mean by a hair but still slightly stiffer, just wider. But it is reversible which is nice if your a left. I am not.
Recoil Spring -As for the "reduced recoil" dual recoil spring, the recoil is the same on my Gen3 and 4, as much as people say it was changed for recoil it was actually changed for reliability over the 3 when using lights having the weight up front cause jams which the new spring was made to fix, and cause people b**ched about polymer spring rods so they made it steel.
Grip - The grip is actually kinda nice, but I have a Gen3 RTF so its about the same. I never complained about the Gen3 standard grip, my ranged dont have that much sweat, mud and blood like everyone elses ranges to really need that extra grip
Actually many of my GF's (ex's included) complain about the RTF/Gen4 grip as too rough
Extra Mag and Back Straps - The back straps are actually really nice, definitely helps the gun fit to you better messing with them until you find which feels slightly better. Extra mag included is a nice added bonus of course.
Those were my thought before I owned a gen4, now that I own one,
I still feel the same way. The upgrades are nice. But not worth that extra cost IMO. YMMV.Comment
