Ehhhhh, you are the only one that knows if they really want a gen 4 over a gen 3. If you want it go for it, if not get the gen 3 as it is just as reliable.

........for the money, nothing beats a Glock. Have early G19,23 and recently G19 Gen4. The grip, stipling and ergonomic improvement is superb. 3 mags and other improvements make the slightly additional money definitely worth it! The recent G19 Gen4 has reinvigorated my passion for Glocks, wanting to get the 23 next and then whatever I can before year end. Highly recommend !!!!

Baby glocks already have dual recoil springs so it's not worth the hassle getting a Gen4 model of those.

If you're asking about Gen4 9mm glocks don't bother because 9mm rounds have mild recoil.

However, if you're gonna ask about Glock 20, 21, 22, and 23 my answer would be yes.

Gen4 + $.25 trigger job + DIY undercut trigger guard = Glock Perfection

Would people say it's possible to get a Gen4 Glock for $600 out the door? And I don't mean with any discounts (blue label, GSSF, etc).

              I have a Gen4 g17, It's perfect, bought about 6 months ago
I have a Gen4 g34, it's about 3-4 months old, and it pelts me with brass. Brass to the face, brass to the arm, brass to the chest.

They both have the same model extractor, ejector. The only difference being the longer G34 slide and the G17 has a dot connectoer whereas the G34 has the - connector.

But I DO like the beavertail medium size backstrap.

So I dunno. Gen3's don't pelt you with brass do they? (Well, neither does my Gen4 17, but as far as I know it was never a gen3 problem).

If you're buying a .40 S&W gun, then gen 4 for the double recoils spring, but it's moot in a 9mm.

Just some things to think about. And the extra magazine of course ($25)

I just ordered a gen 4 G19. A little more than $600 OTD but it was worth it to me. I wanted FDE but settled for black so I can get my hands on it sooner.

This became more about the SSE than the cost for me, I could have run over to Glock store and paid much less for a gen 3.

My go to FFL, placer tactical, got me a couple gen 4 9mm FDEs for $640 OTD. More than $600 but not too much more than a standard gen 3 (without GSSF).

Part of the reason why I think it's worth it is that you won't be able to get one cheaply after Jan 1st unless you have family out of state that can do a familial transfer. After Jan 1st I'll start buying up all the gen 3s of version I didn't want to couldn't get in time for a gen 4.

Edit: and the grip (with no backstrap) is simply superb for my hands. Feels extremely comfortable.

So since it's been answered. When they kill the SSE can we finally file for unjust 2AM like we did for CCW when the banned OC? Being it's not impossible to get almost any common modern pistol?

Besides, theres a ton of 1911's I'd rather get between now and 1/15

YMMV but the Gen 4 holds no juju for me.
Where is this 485 otd you speak of?

I personally really like the grip of the Gen 4 19, no grip panels just the small grip and I have super long reach fingers. The texture is also pretty good IMO.

With the gen 3's I need to cover the front strap checkering with grip tape to reduce the sharp edges stabbing my fingers. The gen 4 texture here feels just right.

Yes I think it's a worthwhile improvement over the gen 3's.
