Ugh, I need to just forget about this for now and go deal with it tomorrow.
Stores can sell them for however much under or over msrp, as I do not believe Springfield has a set selling price on their 1911 line.

I usually check GoG market pricing: https://www.galleryofguns.com/genie/

Here is Turners weekly ad, but I do not believe there is a Turners up in your area: http://www.turners.com/springfield-a...tainless-10874

Your purchase agreement says loaded, the tag says loaded. They can't do that.

Agreed. They can't agree to sell you a loaded and give you a milspec. False advertisement. Regardless, it would be immoral for them not to right their wrong. Should you have researched or checked online? Maybe. Should you be taken advantage of? Hell no. We gun enthusiasts need to stick together. That includes LGSs.

Milspec should be $700-750. Loadeds should be $950-1050. Your getting hosed for $200-300 dollars. Tell them to make it right. And if they do, buy some mags and a holster to show them that you appreciate them making it right.

I usually do. Huge mistake on my part. I actually did a little bit of research in the shop on my phone. Of course I googled the loaded model, read a few reviews. In my defense the pictures were tiny so I didn't notice the difference in appearance. So much for assuming a product is actually what it is labeled as.

Yea for future reference all 1911's are basically just that. 1911's. What sets them apart is the add ons, like you see, your mil spec has bare bones, the loaded is well loaded full of goodies, then their operator just has this and that added in, colt has their own versions. With 1911's your simple buying the same gun, but what separates them for each other is the packages that your buying. Basically a mustang, vs GT factory, Selene, Roush, Shelby, XXX race shops tuned mustang, YYY customs tuned mustang. So you still have a 1911 and a dam good pistol. You just don't have the bells and whistles as the loaded from an aesthetic standpoint. Both will shoot just about the same.

But it's alright we've all been there. Lesson learned. Hopefully

Googling just "Springfield" and that model number, the first few dozen hits indicated "Stainless MilSpec" in their title - like the FIRST search result that was on the list:

SPRINGFIELD ARMORY STAINLESS MIL-SPEC 1911 PISTOL

Most likely someone at that dealer doesn't know a Loaded from a loaded gun, let alone the perks of a Loaded model, and gave you a load of BS because of it.

They will almost certainly make it right.

On the "huge mistake" front, it really isn't a huge mistake. Telling Nick Woodman you were going to take a pass on investing in his little camera company when he was starting up would be classified as a huge mistake...

Surely a mistake has been made. It happens. Give the dealer a chance to make it right.

In the end it will be up to you to take the MilSpec and a refund sufficient to cover the difference in price, or return the MilSpec and insist on a Loaded. Just understand, they may not have one, and if they do they will need to redros it.

Make sure you *CAREFULLY* read all of the paper work. Make sure the serial/model numbers on the papers match the gun.

Went down to the shop this morning. First few employees were puzzled at the
situation. Manager/owner acknowledged a mistake had been made and
authorized a full refund. He did say the gun was priced as a Mil Spec but I
have a hard time believing $879.00 is a good sale price for that particular
                        model.
It's unfortunate he had to eat the cost of the DROS
because an employee mislabeled a product. I have a feeling that employee will
be getting a talking-to at some point (I believe it's the same younger guy that
did the DROS with me when I made the purchase). It will be a learning
experience for him though and I doubt he will make the same mistake again.
So, all is well. When I do decide to buy my first 1911, I'll be damn sure to
                        do my homework first.

Thanks everyone for all their input, and thanks to staff at Down Range for
                        being polite and helpful.

I'm glad they made it right. Mistakes happen. The sign of a good manager/business owner is when they admit to the mistake and do what they need to do to correct the problem.

And that's how good service is done. Correcting an innocent mistake.

                                Good to hear.
