    Building a AR15 pistol

Is there any certain laws I need to follow when building a pistol at using an 80% lower?
I was told that I would need to get a ar mag sled to use as a single shot and then convert it back to the "regular" format.

I plan on buying the sig pistol brace and purchasing the kak ind. pistol buffer tube.
The upper so far on my sights is the adams arms pdw 7.5.

Any handgun you make must conform with CA unsafe handgun laws. [PC 32000(a)]
Therefore, it will need to be made into a dimensionally compliant single-shot pistol (minimum 6" barrel length, minimum 10.5" overall length, maglock + 0 round magazine/sled). [PC 32100(b)]

Even though it is legal under Federal laws/regulations, installing an arm brace can make the handgun into a SBR under CA laws/regulations.
CA case laws allows for firearms that are not considered SBR/SBS under Federal laws to be considered SBR/SBS under CA laws.

You don't need a sled. Just pull the spring out of a regular magazine and put in some rolled cardboard, or anything else that prevents the magazine follower from moving. Put that in your pistol lower with a bullet button installed. Congratulations, you are done. Take a picture if you feel so inclined. Then drop the magazine, replace the spring and move on. You don't actually need any proof that you did it. You don't need anybody to see it. There is nothing that they can do about you not having any proof, because it would be on them to prove otherwise. That being said, it is worth actually taking the 5 minutes you need to do it simply to cover yourself legally. As for the "arm brace", The CA DOJ has not said that this is allowed or not allowed as far as I know. But I would still be a bit leery of using it, simply because it is a gray area here. Yes, they have an ATF ruling. But the state is a PITA about such things. They are more than happy to interpret the laws however they like. And would you actually like to rely on their ruling in your favor if you get busted? It just isn't worth it to me.

The mag vice block is another good option. Ten bucks on amazon and it's a useful tool besides being a sled

Why do you need to have a bullet button on a AR Pistol, since it's classified as a pistol not as a Assault rifle? As long as you follow the 10 round magazine cap limit as any other hand gun?

          Thanks

California does not have an "Assault Rifle" classification. Those words can mean just about anything the speaker wishes for them to mean.

California does have a very specific definition for "Assault Weapons." (Please refer to Penal Code section 30515). That definition includes the common version of the AR pistol. It remains necessary to either remove the "detachable magazine", or the evil features, in order for the weapon to be California legal.

To the conclusion that California has some if not the Stupidest Gun laws.

Mag is outside pistol grip. You do need a bullet button. Unless you will never put a 10rd Pmag on the gun.

Isn't the hang up not the detachable part, but the part that the magazine is outside of the pistol grip?

                    Yup

                    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

How about this SB15 Brace? Since ATF classified it as a Brace and not a stock and there's no law saying you can't shoulder fire a pistol, and CA DOJ hasn't came out with any ruling on it and it comes with a Letter from the ATF stating it is a Brace. Do you see any reason why not to run this on your pistol? I see plenty of people using this Brace shouldered at Norco, Burro Canyon and Angeles ranges with no problem..

Regarding Post #7, I think that you're right on point..............

I would not touch the SB15 brace in California. Please refer to Post #7 for a clear explanation of the reasons (Sorry, I couldn't resist).

The ATF letter carries no weight in California. The CA DOJ remains free to interpret California law differently, and they often do.

I'm not aware of anyone getting into trouble with that particular item (yet), but it could be easily viewed as serving the same purpose as a stock.

The problem with enforcement of these things is that its often politically driven and "Evil Black Rifles" have come under scrutiny.

The problem isn't that anybody has gotten busted for the stock yet. As far as I know, nobody has. The problem is that it is up to any of the 58 DAs in the state to decide if they want to go after this as a rifle stock. Not to mention all of the cops out there who don't have a clue about what is or is not legal regarding firearms. To them, it looks like a scary assault rifle. And the ATF letter means exactly squat to many of them. You would likely win the case long term, but it would cost you lots of time and money. With the kind of laws and DOJ officials we have in this state, many people just don't see it as worth the time and effort.

That's right. Its better than spending $40 bucks on a sled.
                            Thanks.

So u need a bullet button.
I still plan on buying the brace. Depending where I go shooting I'll either slip it on or leave it off just in case.

Does anyone own or shot the Adams arms pdw 7.5 pistol?
                              Fun?
