Depend on if the AB 1964 passes or not. If it does pass I believe SSE should end at the end of the year. Somebody correct me if i'm wrong.... kinda hard to keep up to date with CA law but this was what i found out after a quick google.

Will out of state intra family transfers of off-roster handguns remain legal here or will that also get killed when this bill passes?

            BenHa,

            You nailed this one.

It all depends on AB1964. If the bill passes, as it is currently written, SSE will go away on January 1, 2015.

It is looking fairly certain that AB1964 will pass, but it is not yet a done deal.

The governor vetoed a bill that would have eliminated SSE last year because of other provisions in that bill. In his veto message, he promised his support for a "clean" bill that addressed only SSE and he invited the legislature to send him such a bill. AB1964 has been proceeding along the process with sufficient votes to continue along. There does not seem to be enough opposition to stop it, and the governor has committed to signing it.

This sucks, this really sucks. The roster has got to go.

I think our only chance is if the Dems muck up the bill trying to sneak in other anti legislation. It certainly wouldn't be the first time they did that to themselves. But the gov already committed to signing a clean anti SSE bill, and if I had to bet on it I'd bet he signs it.

I expect the dems to put all their muscle behind that bill. The bullet button bill is a political third rail right now, no dem is going to touch it given the circumstances. Consequently I expect them to put all their efforts into taking away SSE. Unless they attach crazy stuff to it again I think Brown will sign it, so I think SSE will be done January 1.

I'm also interested in this. However, from the discussion I have seen this bill only touches SSE.

To all who are interested, you can follow AB 1964 using this link:

Ive only been into the shooting sport for about 3 years and it seems that every year there is less and less we can do legally to enjoy the sport... I wonder how the old timers feel after so many years of ca legislation...
