SS's job there is not to maintain the peace, they are there to protect the VIP, shooting thru ppl to stop the bad guys if necessary is just part of their job. 357Sig penetrating better than 9mm, 40S&W or 45APC, and that's why Air Marshall use 357Sig, too.

Repeating my earlier comment: I think most ballistics show that 357 sig penetrates 12-14 inches. It's roughly the same as a factory load 357 magnum or 9mm +P+. Check here for more info: http://tacticalforums.com/ubb/Forum78/HTML/000368.html

I met McCain on Monday in sacramento. Really nice guy, and a very good speaker. Congressman Lungren, Arnold, and Patricia Heaton were there also. Since I had to work the event, I was able to chat with the SS guys. They were very professional and nice.

thats cool!!!! I've gotten to meet a security person or two...but never like that!
