    SIG 229 talk

Spent tonight hanging out with some nice guys in from DC who were ALL carrying SIG 229s in 357 SIG.

They were babysitting THIS guy at the Beverly Hilton Fundraiser:

Shook his hand and wished him luck. Seems like a good guy.

I knew they replaced their P228 9mm's with P229's but didn't know they were using the .357 sig round over the .40 cal.

You mean they dont carry bad a@@ uzis and .38s anymore?

I guess a P229 in .357 is pretty sweet. I still think a P229 in 9mm will serve them better.

The main SS guy I talked to said he wished he could carry a 1911 and asked about the SIG 1911. They said they had MP-5s in their nylon bags. The guy in the photo above couldn't get the damn folding stock on his Uzi open. I remember that video vividly...

Two uniformed SS guys said they thought the Service went to the 357 SIg BECAUSE the FBI went to the 40 S&W

Maybe they figure that some times they gotta shoot through folks to get at an assassin.

            I love my 9mm 229 BTW.

McCain wins, I keep my guns and ammo.
OBiden wins, Calguns discussions will be wistful remembrances of guns past...

On the Radio today they replayed a Youtube debate when Biden was running for Prez and a guys showed his AW and asked what Biden would do about the 2nd Amendment and "protecting my baby (the rifle being the baby)

Biden Went OFF on the guy and said (to applause form the audience) if he called his gun his baby he probably wasn't mentally capable of owning a gun, and he bragged that he had WRITTEN the Fed AW Bill and did it to keep guns OUT of the hands of people like the questioner who clearly was "metally ill."

That's Barack's VEEP. God help us all.

I guess there goal is to protect the VIP and NO ONE ELSE. Even with a 9mm you'd shoot through folks. With a .357 Sig you'd shoot through many more folks.

I think most ballistics show that 357 sig penetrates 12-14 inches. It's roughly the same as a factory load 357 magnum or 9mm +P+. Check here for more info: http://tacticalforums.com/ubb/Forum78/HTML/000368.html

That's what I assume, hope some one can enlighten us further.

I believe they wanted to duplicate 357 magnum ballistic in an auto loader. I remember reading "12 rounds of 357 magnum in a hand gun" or something like that.

SS has been carrying the P229 in .357 Sig for a while now. When I found out, I decided to try it and ended liking it a lot. Some people don't like the recoil, personally I like it better than .40 SW recoil. Two negatives, it is noisy and has a pronounced flash signature at night time.

Am I the only one that finds posting a picture of a shot cop lying face down in poor taste?

I heard that too. Another thing that I heard was that the round was better in penetrating windows and retaining more straight trajectory than 9mm.
