    Springfield Loaded + case ?

    Hey Calgunners.

I've seen the price fluctuate on these quite a bit over the last 18 months and I finally decided I'm going to pick one up online and ship to my local FFL because I can't seem to find the parkerized version within 45 miles. I've shot one of these a time or two and it went on my must have list immediately.

But I did have a weird question and try not to give me a hard time. I see the dark (black or gray) cases these things come in and they look amazing. I know I shouldn't care about that, but I can't help but imagine the smile that comes across me every time I take it out of that thing.

With that said, sometimes I see them in a blue case (online) and doesn't look nearly as nice. What gives? Is it part of a special package?

Mines came in a grey. I don't remember seeing a blue case. Hey OP, just buy it. No regrets. It's a great gun.

Range Officer/Loaded and up models should be the gray box now.
Maybe 2-3 years now they started to use that giant gray box. I think Springfield will straight sell them if you like another.

If it's blue with foam, than it might be old new stock or just used.
I think the Mil-Spec are the with the blue box now.

They used to come in a black plastic box with no foam nor gear at all.

That might explain it, thanks. If I looked for used ones online I see some in grey but some in blue.

          Jlomb436,
Mine came in gray; what others said, it may be an older model.
          As egpost916 said BUY IT!
it's my favorite by far of the 8 handguns I own!
          Can't go wrong!

Bought mine 2 years ago at LGS...gray case. It was my 1st 1911 and still one of my favorite shooters. Buy it no matter what color the case is.

Interesting. All my boxes are in a pile, and all the guns are in the safe hanging off the door in "holsters"

You guys keep the guns in the safe?

I think I didn't because my first handgun was a gen2 Glock21 and it came in what is quite literally a black tupperware box.

New Glock boxes are nice but the catches suck and fall off. S&W ones are blue and nice. S&W Shield came in a cardboard box!!

Same here. My handgun cases are stored somewhere. The handguns are in the safe stored in silicone socks to keep them warm

I've had more blue Springfield boxes than black 'newer' boxes with my Springfield purchases.

3 Loaded models (couple of .45's and a 9mm) and a TRP all came in the blue box. In fact, no Springfield 1911 that I've bought ever came in a black box, only the XDM and XDs did.

The nice thing about the blue boxes are that they take up less space in my cabinet.

I wouldn't leave it in the box in my cabinet, just when I take it to the range

Dave, when did you buy your Springfields?

By the way, these are on the roster right?

And has anyone had any issues with Kentucky Gun Co?

                      Thanks peeps!

I bought a SA 9mm Loaded from them a month or so ago. Best price, no complaints. It can sometimes take a few days to get it out the door though. Oh, it came in the grey case.

You can pick up the nifty new cases for $35 plus shipping from SA customer service. It's the same price for 1911, XDm, or XDs. If your gun is in the shop they'll ship it for free.

I don't leave the guns in the box. I leave the empty boxes in the cabinet in my garage. The guns stay in my safe, and travel in pouches when I take them to the range. The factory case/box doesn't get touched again unless I decide to sell the gun, which is what that pic was from. The Kimber and new black Springfield boxes take up the most space in my cabinet

All of my blue-boxed Springfield 1911's were purchased on or prior to late 2012.

Bought my Parkerized Loaded in Feb and came in a grey case. I believe the blue boxed guns are older models, possibly the N prefix put together in Brazil. SA has since changed and have the guns built in US with NM prefix (Loaded Models). As far as differences between the 2, it's been debated all over the net but I doubt there is any.
