Faster so it gets to the target quicker. Flatter trajectory.
Again, are people able to discern a 10% difference in velocity so they can proceed to dodge these bullets?

And how is trajectory important? Are we talking 500 meter shots with either caliber?

Choosing a 357 Sig is counterproductive when there are plenty of 9mm +P+ loadings that do the same thing.

And which gun is rated for 9x19 +p+?

I'm sure you can run 45kpsi SMG ammo thru your 9x19 handgun, and get much much better ballistics. But do you want to do that?

Nearly all 9mm handguns can handle +P+. Look at guns used in competition by people running the 9 to Major Power Factor. They are running pressures way in excess of 45,000 PSI and the guns are not exploding.

I just posted facts about the 357SIG cartridge. I never mentioned that they were beneficial, or that they were a reason to get a 357SIG. I would also use a 9mm over a 357SIG, and it wouldn't be +P.

.357sigis like a .357 magnum in semi auto forum and incredibly soft shooting and flat shooting. Its an absolute joy to shoot and tied for my favorite caliber with the 10mm

9x19 NATO proof loads are at 45.7kpsi, so we know every gun chambered for it will not explode at 45.7kpsi. And there is a margin of safety on top of that proof pressure as well. But it is like driving your car after the gas tank empty light comes on. You can do it, but do you want to risk running out of gas / failure? Proof loads are higher than SAAMI maximum spec for a reason.

Also, it is funny you bring up 9 major. Those guns are purpose built. Their barrels are fully supported and then some. In addition, their OAL are loaded long, so they will either not fit in the magazine, or lead to feed problems, or can result in excessive pressure if used in a chamber with short leade. For all intents and purposes, 9 Major is a wildcat that should not be used in a regular 9x19 gun. Just like how 308 should not be shot out of a converted small ring mauser.

But hey, your gun, your decision. Let us know how well your gun wears after a steady diet of the 45kpsi SMG stuff.

People are running major loads through stock Guns with heavier recoil springs. They have plenty of case support. The only purpose built 9mm major guns are 1911s. What's funny is people getting bent out of shape about 9mm's loaded hot but at the same time crowing about the 357 Sig when both are running the same pressures.

                    Bull****.

9mm +P clocks at around 1300 with a 115 gr bullet. .357 SIG clocks 1400 with a 125 gr bullet. The 9mm bullet is designed for 1150-1200 so it's right on the edge of falling apart even if you could get it to run faster. .357 SIG penetrates better and delivers more bullet weight on target.

+1. My G20 has spare 40, 357Sig, 10mm(factory and aftermarket) and 9x25Dillon barrels. With extended mags the entertainment goes up to 20. (It's more than 11, innit?)

Buffalo Bore 115 grain 9mm +p+ is only 1400 fps... Underwood 357 Sig 124 grain HP is 1475 fps.

Yeah you can get pretty close but can the gun take it? I shoot the +p+ out of a plastic Ruger, so I know it will be fine. Plastic is really tough.

I bought a Sig 226 in .40 S&W at the same time I bought a spare barrel in 357Sig. I tried the .40's then tried the 357Sig's and never looked back, it is now my EDC round.
