    Thoughts on LC9?

I have the opportunity to obtain an LC9.

For general purpose carry, how do you guys feel about this gun?

My buddy has one which is very reliable. The trigger pull is really long. I had trouble shooting it because the trigger breaks so far to the rear. Other than that it seems like a decent gun.

Try one out first if you can, the trigger pull is forever. I didn't like it so I did the Galloway trigger bar mod and it is much better.

I had one, and sold it. IMHO the trigger pull is WAYYYYYYYYY too long, as is the reset. I have an LCP that is my EDC, and I'm a big fan, but they dropped the ball on the LC9 as far as I'm concerned. The trigger has to be pulled all the way back until it almost hits the grip before it fires, and the reset is pretty much all the way back out.

Shoot one first, that's my advice.

Trigger pull is a tough pill to swallow. It is small and slim… But so is the shield. Yes, the LC9 is a little smaller over all, but even the M&P trigger is leaps and bounds above the ruger IMO.

That said, if you have a good opportunity/good price, go for it. More options!

                Pro LC9 here....

Get it. Great lil 9mm for the $

...then shoot it, repeat a couple 100 times / learn the trigger.

As reliable and consistent as a revolver, IMO. I ditched the mag disconnect, otherwise rollin' stock.

                Disappears IWB @ 2:30 / 3ish.

Trigger is long and heavy. The double reset takes forever compared to others.

The Galloway Trigger kit reduces the travel by 50% and takes @ a pound off the trigger. The kit sells out of stock pretty quick so you have to keep an eye out for it. Even with the Galloway kit, the trigger pull is still long and has the double reset.

Also note, the Galloway kit gets rid of the magazine safety. You are still left with the loaded chamber indicator.

It is small and easy to carry. You can get Novak night sites for it and/or a red or green laser. The batteries do not last as long with the green laser versus the red. The Viridian laser gives you instant on when pulling from a corresponding magnet holster and instant off when re-holstering.

Extended mags give you 9+1 in a single stack.

Compare your options and trigger pulls before you buy.

Good value but there are better choices.

The trigger pull is intentionally long like on a revolver but it's smooth and predictable. Not call anyone out but if you can't shoot one because of the trigger then you don't know how to shoot.

Fair point. It's certainly not un-shootable. I was able to have consistent hits while moving at about 25yds. But it sure wasn't as easy as with some other pistols lol.

Op: Thanks for the thread. I captured the essence of Lone Gunman's post if only to emphasize that point. I did own an LC9 for about 5 months but traded it and an SKS towards an AK.

Basically, I think of the LC9 as being a Lawyer gun. The only redeeming qualities are the Ruger name and the concealable nature of the gun. Still shoot it and see what you think. Perhaps, even try the Kel Tec PF9 and the Kahr PM9 and CW9. They run along the same vein except the PM9 is approximately 2-3 times more expensive than the LC9.

Shoots well, feels good in the hand. No malfunctions using different ammo. Don't like the trigger or mag disconnect. It will not be on my permit, thinking of selling.
