I think you should get the Kimber, and........
PM me with the info where I could get the Ruger (haha).

Actually, I have the SR1911cmd and absolutely love it. I only have 100 rds through it and it's the only 1911 I've tried so I'm far from an expert. But I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express one time.

Seriously, if you don't get the Ruger SR1911-cmd, PM me, I have a friend who would like one.

      Ruger.

Never been a fan of Kimbers.

I own Colts from the 70s and 80s and prefer the Series 70 slide.

      That's a Ruger.

Just picked up a full house Ruger via SSE and I agree, get one while you may.

And $700 bucks isn't bad either..

May the Bridges I burn light the way.

Life Is Not About Waiting For The Storm To Pass - Its About Learning To Dance In The Rain.

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

Same here. While I would say get the Kimber, I would say to get the Ruger now and then decide if you want to get rid of it next year, especially if SSE goes away. I'm not suggesting that you will or should be able to jack up the sale price if there's no more SSE, but rather you can probably get most of your money back, if not all of it by selling it later.

You already know what the Kimber is like, so try out the Ruger and decide later on whether to keep it or sell it.

I don't think the quality is there with Ruger anymore. They are pushing so much product out the door that lemons get through. It seems that the customer has become their quality control. If you have a problem they will fix it - but I'd rather have it right, right out of the box. They have also recently eliminated their employee retirement plan - doesn't make for happy workers. Get another Kimber.

Same could be said for Kimber and their QC issues. And their CS isn't held in high regard either.

I agree. Should the SSE goes away, the value of the Ruger can only go up. And if for some reason I don't like the Ruger, I can always sell it at cost, not at a loss.

What QC issues? The ones you have first hand experience with, or the ones you read about?

I can say it has been a great gun.

I want to get a stainless Kimber Pro Carry II like the one you get there to pair it with mine below. Now that I decide to get the Ruger instead. Hopefully, they pair up nicely.

Mine shot flawlessly since day one. The recoil spring was a bit stiff when new. After a few hundred rounds, it softens up, and the gun is a pleasure to shoot. A little bit of recoil though. However, that's expected with a short barrel and a heavy cal.

                        OmegaTrader,
Between the Ruger and the Kimber, I'd definitely get the Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded!!!

I don't know much about Springfied, but it sounds expensive already . How much does it go for? My budget is 1K max (OTD).

First hand. TLE II had plenty of FTF. Thought it was the crappy mags but nope. Typical BS from CSR of 500rd break in period and don't bother calling back until you've met that. Finish on the gun was poor and rubbed off with minimal holstering. Almost as bad as RIAs cheap finish. A few machining marks but I really don't care about those in a cheaper 1911. I had to put in a 14lb recoil spring to try and fix the cycling issue. Even with +P the stock recoil spring would fail to cycle properly. Yeah, n=1 experience so take it for what it's worth.
