Glock blows up

This was shown to me in person at the shop I go to. The shooter apparently escaped uninjured and he gave the gun to the shop. The shooter did his own reloads. You can still see the next bullet being fed if you look close. The trigger is completely gone presumably blown somewhere and lost. ANd yes it is the harder to find fishgill :-( I believe it was a glock 22, but I was so shocked when I saw it I forgot to look

Two things I got from this, 1)don't do your own reloads unless you're careful and know what you're doing and 2) for all the crap glocks and polymer is given, they do a good job at holding up to a major malfuctions with minimal to no injury to the shooter. At least the engineering behind them is solid.

this is actually why I try to discourage people from reloading 40 - the pressure curve is more of a pressure spike & you can go from safe to catastrophic failure in no time flat.

Sad to see that it was a Glock RTF2 Fish Gill...

Its very obvious that it was using an aftermarket barrel.. but who knows if an oem barrel would have handled it any better or not.

EDIT: Looked up the NEU*** prefix and it says G-22RTF2 so you were right OP it was a G22

I have been reloading .40 for over twenty years. It is no deferent from reloading any other round. If reload within specs you will be fine, if you don't oh well you ask for it. I have seen plenty of .45, 9mm and .357 kabooms. Bad reloading is not a caliber thing it's a stupid human thing.

Yes, I haven't really dealt with aftermarket barrels on my glocks, and it's hard to say 100% that the barrel had nothing to do with it, but if I had to guess it was the home reloads. Supposedly this barrel was match grade and a higher quality brand. I've not heard of it, I only know of lone wolf.

Most likley an overcharge.

If barrel blockage, failure should happen somewhere down the pipe where the projectile meets the obstruction. That would manifest in a split barrel somewhere forward of the chamber.

The fact that the chamber is split open is consistent with an overcharge.

That is a kkm barrel. Way better than Lone Wolf imo.

I also would like to know the circumstances of the kaboom. From a first look it appears to likely be a double charge. Might have been bullet setback.
