        Correct. The 92 Compact is a double stack but the Type M is a 8 round single stack.

          I know you said non 1911, but how about 1911ish... the sig P938 is one of the best subcompact 9mms on the market. It's small enough to be comfortably pocket carried yet shoots like a larger framed gun - its the most comfortable subcompact 9mm I've ever shot and incredibly accurate. The single action trigger has more travel that some striker fired guns I have shot but leads to a very crisp break. They also have .22 conversions for it so one day when .22 ammo isn't so scarce, you can train cheaply with it.

            Sig 938 and 290 are both Single Stack.

            Ill add though that I had a 938 and it gave me lots of headaches and I eventually sold it.

                    Kimber Solo may be your best sub-compact option.
