I'd suggest you first take an NRA basic handgun course at your local range BEFORE buying a gun. Contact your local gun shop for more info.

Before buying my first gun, I took and class. Knowledge saves a lot of time and money.

Perhaps, but what money do i have to save, really? I've already worked it out and out the door i'm paying $187 (i might ask to add a cent on as i don't like that price lol) not to mention i'll most likely be PAYING for my handgun training as i want to do armed security training and obtain my open carry cert.

Think I should wait a little longer and just save the $200 again?

What's the hurry? Are you planning to be an armed security guard? If so, you'll be getting the training and some don't need to bring their own firearm. Some instructors provide them for you, that'll give you a chance to try out different ones.

It's up to you man. I've bumped into a lot of old gunners who sold their first gun, because of impulse buys.

You get what you pay for.

Yes. Definitely. I believe in your case you should wait a while longer...

Sounds like you might need to do a little bit more studying up before you make your first purchase. Do you have anyone nearby who can help you learn the ins and outs of firearm ownership and safety? I would highly recommen a mentor sort of person who can help guide you through this, if you aren't able or don't have the time to dig into the details yourself.

Remember, gun ownership is a very serious thing, it requires a lot of responsibility and should not be taken lightly.

Your ID and address on any of these MUST match. Yes even if it is your name is on them.
You can also use your home tax bill.

Also if you are going to get your armed guard card you should wait to buy the gun as some firms have a list of what you can and can not carry.

Some questions are so rediculiously easy if you have even 1/8th of a brain and any concept of firearms safety. There are a few questions about the laws but you do not need to stress. Just give the study guide a read and you will pass with ease.
Not sure if we are talking about the same test? ( Do anti's read this)

The test is very difficult, and can barely be passed. I believe all who have passed have taken the weekend course, as well as spend countless hours studying to ace this.

Not true at all, my CDL has my p.o. box, my pg&e bill(proof of residence) has my physical addres on it. I never have problems buying handguns.

If no bills are paid under your name and your name isn't on your car registration, you can use a residential lease agreement as proof of residence.

I did a google search for a form and here it is:

It will be between you and your girlfriend. If you don't pay for any of the things, just put $0. Also, date it the day you plan to purchase the handgun in case you want to purchase another one within 90 days.

some FFL's want them to match, but I guess it isn't a sticking point.

An alternative would be to check the search function...you're definitely not the first person to post the questions

Go to ofice depot and get a lease agreement or download one and fill it out with you GF being your land lord and sub leasing space to you. It's that simple no headaches no bils to start in you'r name. But I too would wait a little bit longer and buy something you wont regret. for an extra $150 you can pick up a sig p6, or a ruger semiauto used of course but better quality no doubt. good luck with you'r new purchase whatever it may be.

Well I'm using my girlfriends address and I have no proof of residence, what kind(s) of proof would i need, mail?. No bills are paid under my name so hopefully I don't need a bill.

Also,a CA state I.D. is valid form of I.D. I assume?

HSC is handgun safety certificate right?

Looks like I'll have to wait a little longer I guess...

Btw the handgun I'm going to purchase is a Hi-Point c9 (9mm). As not many users have this firearm, I'll post my personal opinions and photos after I get it. Please don't FLAME me or criticize my choice of firearm. It is a first gun and it is within my price range not only that it has a lifetime warranty excellent customer service and a good reputations from owners.

THis is the third such glowing testimony for Highpoints that I've seen on gun forums in the last week. I'm smelling a marketing rat. Or some sort of 'viral' campaign BS.

I sure as heck wouldn't buy a cheap 9mm if I were to be in armed security.
