The online guide has sample questions at the end of each section. Try those out and study if needed.

              2nd that

Some questions are so rediculiously easy if you have even 1/8th of a brain and any concept of firearms safety. There are a few questions about the laws but you do not need to stress. Just give the study guide a read and you will pass with ease.

Wait till he find out that not only does he need an HSC, he needs proof of residency AND there's a 10 day wait, so he'll have to drive 50 miles again.....

Thanks everyone, esp to the guy who posted the study guide!

Well I'm using my girlfriends address and I have no proof of residence, what kind(s) of proof would i need, mail?. No bills are paid under my name so hopefully I don't need a bill.

Also,a CA state I.D. is valid form of I.D. I assume?

HSC is handgun safety certificate right?

Looks like I'll have to wait a little longer I guess...

Btw the handgun I'm going to purchase is a Hi-Point c9 (9mm). As not many users have this firearm, I'll post my personal opinions and photos after I get it. Please don't FLAME me or criticize my choice of firearm. It is a first gun and it is within my price range not only that it has a lifetime warranty excellent customer service and a good reputations from owners.

Ps. To the mods, you should post a sticky guide to first time buyer information, that would be really useful for people like myself without having to ask stupid questions.

I use my car registration. But you can also use a PG&E bill....but if your living with your GF I bet you're not on the bill.

Utlility bills work fine.. If you are breathing you have already passed the test, just answer the way you think the government would want you to answer.

Dumb question, you DO live in California right? Buying a handgun from another state is a big no-no and can get you time in club fed. You are going to need that proof of residency or other ID to buy. I am pretty sure you need a valid California ID also, but don't quote me on that, it's best to get your California ID (The hard card not the print out) before you go buy a gun. If you just moved here, you need to get your California licence within 30 days.

Test is easy. Mindset id that you wouldn't do anything you saw in "Looney Toons" with guns growing up. Just think opposite of Elmer Fudd or Yosemite Sam when it comes to gun safety and you'll pass.

Nope I don't own a vehicle or have a valid drivers licence, just a CA state I.D.

Well, I guess I can figure out a way to show proof of residence. just that no bills are in my name, but i guess i could get put on the lease, just haven't gotten around to it plus we're going to be moving soon, would i need to file a change of a address for the handgun or no?

I'm actually a security officer and I'm planning on moving up to armed security and working for a more better firm/co. full time. I only get hours as there are events and such for me to work at which is a pain in the azz. money is short and i saved just enough to buy the firearm and pay the fees etc. (most of the jobs i work only pay $8.50/hr!) the pdf for the study guide was really basic and i'm sure i will pass no prob, just gotta take care of the address issue and i'm ready to go.
