    M&P Shield- 40 or 9

Planning on getting a Shield in 9or 40. Anybody here shot the .40? I was thinking that the .40 might be too much for a pocket pistol. Some others on another forum say the 40 is not bad at all in the shield.
I have a SR40C and it's not to bad. Would like some input.
I understand you can put a 9 barrel in the 40......if you can find one.

I went with the 40 for the exact reason of being able to shoot 9mm out of it with a barrel swap. It's still in jail right now so I can't give you a range report.

Plenty of videos on youtube. It looks like .40 has a slightly more snap than 9

I'd be curious to know, too.

I shot a Shield in 9 and it was pleasant to shoot.

          I'd say 9mm.

Theres gotta be a reason why my turners dont have 9mm in stock , but they do have it in 40.

          I wonder why?

Get the .40 then invest in a Storm Lake 9mm conversion barrel and some factory 9mm magazines. Now you have two choices in caliber which will give you an advantage when it comes to ammo availability.

I opted for .40, but then, I prefer .40 over 9mm; I find the .40 cal Shield very easy to shoot with no problems managing recoil. As has been said, you can buy the 9mm barrel and drop it right in, if you choose to do that.

I prefer .45 but slow round from a short 3" barrel might be not the best option. So, I have stepped down to Shield in .40

I shoot my .40 just fine. Its a great gun BTW.
When i shoot the shield side by side with my compact the shield actually has less felt recoil to me at least.

I find the Shield in .40 to be quite comfortable in every aspect. The snap wasn't a problem at all.

If you don't mind .40 in other pistols, you won't mind it on the Shield.

My wife just told me to buy the .40 Shield SSE. She told me to also buy my friends HK USP 40 with a stainless slide. Reasoning is that she says I should get more .40s. I have enough .45s. She also feels safer if I carry a 40 over a 9.
Now how's that for a cool wife? Keeps me poor though.
