Every time I see another buyback on the news I cringe at just how much history we are losing. Think of all the hard-earned history that people have sent to the shredder just so they could get a $100 gift card.Comment

Really nice guns. Poor old lady almost missed out on a good pay day and would have made her father roll over in his grave!
There are examples, however, of police informing people that the guns they are turning in are extremely rare or valuable and them steering them away from just taking the $100 gift card and putting them in touch with collectors. There was a post here on Calguns about something like that happening a year or so ago. So she might have still been OK. But Beatle would not have lucked out as much!
Not defending buy backs. Hate those PR stunts. Just saying an honest police officer would have spoken up. Pretty hard to look at that gun and not realize it is something special that belongs in a collectors hands. Pretty hard to cheat an old lady as well. Though some scumbags can do it and live with themselves, I sure couldn't.Comment
