    Sig P226R

Considering purchasing a Sig P226R for $400, any thoughts and critiques on this choice for a sidearm?

Was pretty set on a glock 19 (ccw purposes) but couldnt find any in CA. That is when I came across the Sig for $400. Seemed like too good of a deal to pass up. Anyone have any experience CCW'ing a full size pistol?

Me- I like the P226R, especially if it was full German.

As for Glock 19s- they are all over CA, new one in South Sac if you want it.

As for a P226 for CCW, not for me and I dont have any experience with it.

The P226R is a police trade in. Chances are good that it has only been shot for qualifications twice a year. Will have to inspect it in person rather than take someone's word for it.

Thanks for the heads up on Sac and the Glock. I'll make sure to check that out also. Anywhere near me has been backordered for a few months.

The 226R is a fantastic gun, it would have to have some serious issues in order for me to pass it up at 400.00.

With that said, I think its a bit on the large side to CCW in a IWB unless you're a very large guy. After all, if your carry gun isn't comfortable you won't want to cary it.

Wow! for $400, concealed or not that's a great deal to pass up.

It shouldn't be too hard to carry OWB with winter clothing. IWB in summer clothing would be a challenge due to the length of the grip. Longer slide will post a difficult when sitting or bending over.

For $400 grab it fast unless it has a crack frame. Other than that anything is replaceable. With police trade in you don't have much to worry about.

Make sure the gun fits you whether it's a Glock, S&W M&P or some other brand. For CCW I would go for something comfortable, light, and slim. Get a nice gun belt and a comfortable holster and you are set.

Thanks for the words of advice fellas. I do think that it is too good of a deal to pass up. Worse comes to worse, I dislike the gun and sell it. Do not see that happening though based on my experience shooting a friends P229.

A friend of mine suggested carrying it either OWB under a loose shirt or small of back. Might have to buy a few larger t-shirts. Good bye to the douchy tanks haha my wife will be happy about that at least.

At that price, buy it right away. It won't last.
I have one and I absolutely love it. However, I can't imagine using it for CCW. It is a big gun and not intended to be hidden. You'd need an outfit designed around the gun (people do it).

I already withdrew the money from my bank and have in an envelope ready to go haha. Will be getting to it ASAP.

Hopefully I can work around the gun to conceal it. I am 6'1, 230 so hopefully it will work. If not then it is what it is.

They conceal pretty well for the size. I use a crossbreed IWB holster.

I don't have a permit yet (San Mateo) so I only carry inside my house for now though.

I sure hope so. If things remain the way they are now my county, San Joaquin, should issue CCW's with no problems. It will be awhile before I build up the confidence and the profiency to carry daily, even though I am issued a CCW.

Perhaps a few more advanced pistol classes. Any recommendations on these?
