    Taurus 1911 at AIM

What do you guys think? Looks pretty good, and the price is attractive, considering the bells and whistles and hammer-forged frame, slide and barrel.

Anyone had any experience with these?

I'm in the middle of a warranty fiasco with Taurus on an older PT99. The experience has been bad enough that I will never buy another Taurus. I've never had any company tell me that the sights are not a functionally necessary part of the firearm. Nor have I ever had to pay for shipping and pay for parts so that a company would fix a gun under warranty.

Sorry you're having a bad experience. I bought a cracked frame (knowingly) PT22, $100, ppt ($35 DROS). I sent it to Taurus for $45 through an FFL. They honored the lifetime warranty and we're going to replace it. But since the PT22 is off-roster, they couldn't send me a new one. I requested a different on roster Taurus and offered to pay any difference in value. I chose the PT92 AFS 9mm. They shipped it to my FFL and never charged my credit card. I just paid another $35 to DROS the stainless beauty, and ended up with a $600 gun for $215. That, to me, is class act.

I helped a buddy pick his first 1911, it was a blue B-1 rail model, beautiful finish and machine work, has been trouble free for two years now, my only regret is I didn't buy one at the same time.

I would buy one without any hesitation, I've owned other Taurus autos without any issues.

Do you plan to mod/customize it?

I shied away when I was told by friends it wouldn't take some standard govt 1911 parts. Like the hammer for instance.

Ended up with at RIA since it took standard govt 1911 parts.

Old unwise tale. The trigger does have a lock but you can replace it with a standard one. Other parts are also interchangeable. Grips are a little different but companies like Rassco make nice aftermarket grips for it.

              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
