Hi everyone, I thinking of getting my First Glock
I wanted to know which one should I get first? I'm looking at the G19, G23, G32, G38 models
also what are the prices on ammo for this models?

Will this be your first gun? What are you planning on using it for?

Personally I would get the G23 because I can add on a 9mm barrel down the line if I wanted to shoot 9mm or a .357sig barrel to shoot the .357sig caliber.

9mm will be cheapest to shoot then the .40s&w. Not sure on prices of the other two but they would be more expensive.

+1 on the Glock 19. Stay away from weird ammo unless you reload. I wouldn't consider 40s&w exotic, it's just that I am not a fan of the cartridge...either 9mm of 45ACP for me. IF I were to buy a GLOCK it would be a G19 since I prefer compact handguns since I have smaller hands.

Thanks SoCal Gunner, being my first Glock, I plan on having for home D. use and range time, so looking for good prices on ammo for feed the Glock, but enjoy the high Cal. models too

I too enjoy the 45acp, but to big for the Glock model, the 357sig or the 45gap ammo must be to high to feed my Glock, you guys are right!!!
I will end up with the G19, and maybe the other glock in the 40S&W

The 19 is the most popular model for a reason.

G19 2nd was my first handgun back in '93. It served it's purpose for carrying concealed, but left me wanting more at the range in terms of longer grip and it looks dainty IMO in a open carry holster.

I sold it, bought a 3rd gen G17 and haven't looked back.

where are you located??

If up North, Wildsports has 17s& 23s for $469 right now. I went back to a 17 last Dec. after swearing off plastic guns. I love it and shoot the crap out of it when I can. It swallows everything and spits it out. Good luck and enjoy.

I'd go with the 19 out of the choices you listed. I have one and really like it. However, the 17 grip is just longer, not thicker. My pinky hangs off the end of the grip for my 19. If you're not going to carry it concealed, try the 17 to see if you like it.

I'd also stay away from switching barrels on Glocks. At a shooting class several of us had Glocks. The only Glock that had a problem was a 35 and the owner put a 9mm barrel in it. Keep the barrel stock for best reliability.

I'm a fan of 9mm and 45 ACP. I don't care for the other caliblers. For 9mm its Glock for me. 9mm is the cheapest to practice with and there are very good rounds available for home defense. Last time I bought ammo at Wal Mart I paid about $48 for 250 rounds of UMC, and about $19 for 100 round of WWB.

Get the G23. .40s&w is great for home defense. Extra 100 bucks can get you conversion barrel and turn your G23 to either 19 or 33. Conversion barrel might not be as reliable as stock Glock but great for range fun. I own a G22 with a9mm conversion barrel from Lone Wolf and couldn't be happier.

For all of you trying to convince this new gun owner to do a conversion I say sham on you! If he does that he might only have 1 Glock - that's no way to go though life. Remember - you have to pick up a C model too! And a G20 just because you can.
