its not that they are over priced ,its just that we all want "low ball" pricing

to be honest i have offered fair(going prices) to a few folks here on the forums for various weapons and all still want more go figure i can get a better buy from a local FFL with warranty , so to whomever is buying these overpriced stuff more power to ya ....

Thats why guns are such an excellent hobby to take part in. You will almost always be able to get most of your money back. What other hobby can you do the same? Rc cars? Paintball? Mountainbiking? Racing? None of the above. If I bought a $2k mountain bike, It would be nearly impossible to sell it for $1500 after one use. As for used prices in California.. rule of thumb is to take a fair market price then add $100. California premium.

then go buy it in the store then. pretty lame starting a thread just because you can't get people to price it your way. maybe they really don't want to sell it, but will let it go if some one wants to pay for it. not everyone is desperate to sell something. don't forget people usually put aftermarket sights that run $80+ too.

i dissagree, most calgunner thats been here for a long time usually dont low ball at least i havent seen so far. usually tend to see the ppl with only a few post lowball. im sure you see all the time in the fs section as well, most calgunner have the, "i'll take it" and a lot if not most ppl buy it at the listing price. yes of course everyone wants a to a badar$e pistol/rifle for cheap but thats rare. just my opinion

edit: srry jeepers i misread what you were trying to say. over and out

ive gotten used guns at good prices here, just have to look for the deals and act fast, posting on the wtb forum is good also if you're patient

most times i just buy new though as spending the time looking for a deal on a used gun isnt worth the savings

If it's in near new condition, they may be looking to get the most they can in hopes that saving on tax is enough of a benefit to buy from them vs retail.

Some guns can go up in price. Pythons, sure. Glocks, no.

You just have to jump on it quickly, because the ones for good prices sell fast.
The ones that are pricey usually have upgrades. So the owner may have
paid $100 or $150 for new sights or something, and are trying to get their
money back. Or maybe they are just hoping someone is stupid enough
to pay close to full price for a used gun... Can't blame them for trying.
You do see some of those overpriced guns sit there and not sell.
Used g19 for 500 bucks, wow. Both shops around me sell new g19s for 499.

And yes people take advantage of others. Every gun I sold ive lost at least a hundred bucks. Guess im just a fair guy.

Just go buy new you'll be happier "n" the end, saving like $10-100 buck it's not worth the hassle for used IMO...

                        That's how I roll.

Better question, why are Glocks so over rated?

It's exactly the same as any other market. Cars, houses, etc. you get the best prices when time is on your side and you can walk away from deals that don't go how you want. Everyone gets a new model in their head that they want and go crazy the second they see one for sale, so they settle for a high price or get upset when the seller won't meet then in the middle. When a seller knows you'll walk away perfectly happy without their product, and if they really need to get rid of it, that's when great deals come into play. I have a $800 USC, a $275 sr9, a $280sr9, a $550 usp45, a $430 German p220, plus that many again at just as rediculous prices that I've picked up from here and other sources (gun stores, etc.) due to me being fine to walk away from any deal. Also I don't buy guns that appear to have even been broken in. So these examples were all practically brand new, and most came with hoards of mags and accessories.
I know opinions are like *****holes, and whatnot. But that's mine, take it or leave it.
P.s. I wholeheartedly agree with OP though. Paying more than 500 even for a brand new glock makes me sick. I remember used ones for low to mid $400s all day long. And police trade ins for $375... Ah the good old days.

One reason for the higher prices is people are trying to recoup DROS and sales tax. Some sellers feel hey should not lose out on those extra fees they paid when they bought a gun they didn't like or after the buyers remorse kicked in.

If I could get a brand new gun from a store for equal or less than they want for it, why would I buy something that comes with no warranty and who knows what was done to it?

I have purchased quite a few items from this forum and have gotten great and very fair deals. Most deals were because I happened to be at the right place at the right time. Sit tight, be patient and the deal you are looking for will come your way.
