Why are used Glocks so overvalued?

I didn't used to be a big Glock fan, but recently bought a 21 and 17, and will probably buy more. What I don't get is why people try to sell their used Glocks for the same prices and sometimes more than you can buy new, especially when they are stock. I guess a better question is why people don't laugh them off and some people make the mistake of paying these prices?

Their used guns may be stock, but not necessarily in stock.

That has nothing to do with it. I'm talking about the fact that I posted a WTB glock 17 and got several messages with idiots trying to sell me their gun for more than when I drove down the street and bought it for at Turners brand new. I know guns are pricier in CA, but that has nothing to do with people selling used guns for more than I can buy them for down the street...here in CA

should have specify you had put a wtb ad. thats how it is when you put up wtb ad's. i hate it too brother, nothing we can do about it though.. best option is to just keep an eye out in the fs section and you may find one for a decent deal

Yeah, I picked up a used G-19 on here for $500.
You just have to jump on it quickly, because the ones for good prices sell fast.
The ones that are pricey usually have upgrades. So the owner may have
paid $100 or $150 for new sights or something, and are trying to get their
money back. Or maybe they are just hoping someone is stupid enough
to pay close to full price for a used gun... Can't blame them for trying.
You do see some of those overpriced guns sit there and not sell.

It's not a California thing, the local boards out here are full of overpriced guns every day. From $200 Hi Points, to $500 RIAs, $600 Glocks, on up to $2500 Desert Eagles.

Used Glocks are a dime a dozen and should be priced accordingly. But such is not the case.

I've noticed this too. That is why it is best to " compare-shopping ". Browse the " for sale " add here, then check what a brand new one is selling. Even LGS have different mark ups.

I just bought a brand new Glock 21. Comparing prices, for me, is the fun part.

The bottom line is most people don't shoot their guns much if any at all so usually a "used gun" is as new gun.
