Glock's Missing "Compacts"

Curious if anyone knows why Glock skipped a compact version of their 10mm & 45ACP lines.

Every other caliber has Standard, Compact and Subcompact (ignoring 380) except 10mm & .45.

Seems like those would be equally desirable as the G19, G23, G38 & G32.

I personally think that a .45 is on the menu, but I dont see their 10mm models selling enough. I would definitely buy the 10 immediately, but they wont make one just for me - I asked

Umm.... For 45acp, they have model 41, 21, 30 and 36

Yes, 21=Standard, 30=Subcompact, 36=Slim Subcompact, 41=Competition

I believe the 30 is supposed to the compact model, being almost as big in hand as a 19. Glock and other manufacturers generally have a tough time creating models with similar dementions for both 45/9. A normal "compact" 45 would probably be in between the 17/19 in size, which would be nice. But not compact by any means. So they went for the somewhat smaller 30 instead to really show a size difference. Then for a true subcompact theres the little black brick called the 36.

Also don't go just by glocks table. As theirs a huge difference in size within each catergory depending on your caliber choice.

I'd like Glock to make compact, single stack models in 45 ACP and 10mm. The G30 and G36 are too bulky for my hands. I'm content with Glock's 9mm models.

Yeah, going strictly by measurements the G30 certainly should be in the compact class. I mere fraction of an inch could make it a 3 finger grip.

One reason I'm not getting the Glock 29 is because of how big it is. I want a subcompact, not a compact that Glock calls a subcompact. Would be awesome to have a thin version of it in 10mm. Like a Walther PPS in 10mm, ugh, I'd get it immediately.

IMO the difference for say a G29 is as simple as a mag extension... With one it's closer to a compact, without one it's closer to a subcompact.

Have you looked at the g30SF? The SF is shorter --trigger to backstrap -- than the regular 30.

Glock in general has a problem with fat slides. I compared a Glock 26 to a P239, holding both in my hands, and the advertised difference in width is negligible, but you can feel and see the difference drastically. I do care how short the barrel and grip is, but if it isn't thin it just wont fit on a slim person's profile very easily when concealed.
