I do not blame the Glock. According to the news report, the LEO shot himself in the hand in 1999 when assembling a gun he thought was unloaded.

That said, I prefer thumb safeties, at least on a carry gun. My Glock 26 has a Cominolli safety installed by Rick Devoid of Tarnhelm.

I had no idea such a thing existed. Any downsides? Does it void the factory warranty?

That tends to be what happens when you get a little too "casual" with your loaded firearm. He simply could have asked to see an unloaded G23 out of the gun case for size comparison if he were truly that interest but instead decided to pull his loaded Glock out of his holster? All I have to say is he's real lucky he wasn't appendix carrying....

...A Browning-style safety did not get in the way of Alvin York, when he took down six German soldiers with his 1911. And I do not know why anyone would fumble with a Browning-style safety, except for somebody who was untrained. One advantage of a thumb safety is that they have saved many LEO lives when a criminal has taken away their gun, and is untrained on how to disengage the safety.

That LEO in the article would have shot himself w/ a bowling ball.

And Alvin York drew his 1911 from a flap holster, probably well ahead of time. He did not draw from an IWB during a robbery or in the middle of the night during a home invasion.

So, your point is, that because Criminals fumble w/ external safeties, it's a good reason why an armed citizen should have one to fumble w/ as well?

All I own are Glocks. I have never shot myself or others because I have common sense. If you do not have that then you should not own any gun not just a Glock.
