When are M&P Shields available in CA?

When are M&P Shields available in CA?

Is the 40 already available in the older style and the 9mm is coming in June/July as the new style?

Will/When will private aftermarket barrels be available to convert from 40 to 9mm?

Thanks for any help you can give

^^ S&W not renewing any semi auto pistols in California for the allowed for sale / not unsafe handgun roster.

Current M&P's allowed for sale, and when they expire (fall off roster):
      M&P 340 (Crimson Trace Grips) SKU 163073 / Alloy, Stainless Steel Revolver 1.87" .357 Mag 4/17/2014
      M&P 340 (Matte Black) SKU 103072 / Alloy; Stainless Steel Revolver 1.87" .357 Magnum 10/3/2014
      M&P 340 (S&W Logo Grip) SKU 163072 / Alloy; Stainless Steel Revolver 1.87" .357 Magnum 2/24/2015
      M&P 340 SKU 163072 / Alloy, Stainless Steel Revolver 1.87" .357 Mag 2/27/2014
      M&P 360 (Matte Black) SKU 163077 / Alloy; Stainless Steel Revolver 3" .357 Magnum 6/28/2014
      M&P 360 SKU 163074 / Alloy, Stainless Steel Revolver 1.87" .357 Magnum 6/21/2014
      M&P 40 (Mag Safety) SKU 109200 / Stainless Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.25" .40 S&W 5/18/2014
      M&P 9 (Mag Safety) SKU 109201 / Stainless Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.25" 9mm 8/16/2014
      M&P22 CA (Blk) SKU 122002 / Steel; Alloy; Polymer Pistol 4.10" .22 LR 5/10/2014
      M&P40 Shield SKU 187020 / Stainless Steel; Polymer Pistol 3.12" .40 S&W 9/10/2014
      M&P9 Shield (Blk) SKU 187021 / Stainless Steel; Polymer Pistol 3" 9mm 7/2/2014

Only choices for firearms not on this roster are converting to Single Shot Exemption configuration from a dealer that performs SSE's, or to get one in a Private Party Transfer used from a previous owner.

They expect CA compliant models on the market within 12 mo. The production hasn't started yet. Dealers are anxious to get it. The demand is huge.

That sounds like good news to me, hopefully the ccw issues get sorted out by the time it arrives in stores here.

I don't get it... they've been readily available for quite some time via exemption.

You are just better off buying one through SSE, unless you exempt.

I bought mine but I'm on the wait list for the SSE process. I think I got the last one in stock in Sacramento, paid $455 out the door.

Also, to my knowledge, S&W has said they're making the CA-compliant version Shield for at least a year. Don't hold your breath.

Smith & Wesson said they will keep renewing the CA compliant M&P Shield.

Smith & Wesson announced it will stop selling its handguns in California rather than manufacture them to comply with the new microstamping law in the Golden State.

I'm $ure they are paying very clo$e attention to the po$$ibility of an imminent $pike in demand for compact handgun$ a$ a result of Peruta.
