    Source?

According to S&W's page regarding the CA-compliant Shield, the availability is "to be determined".

I bought a 40c instead before they went off roster. I was also tired of waiting.

And the moment they do, they'll probably realize that they need to make a minor design change that will prevent it from ever getting renewed again.

In the future, search function can be useful and if it isn't try Google using site:calguns.net space whatever you want (for example, site:calguns.net SSE), but here you go.

I'm tired of waiting for the Shields to hit CA. Since the beginning of 2013, I heard from different S&W dealers that the Shields would hit store shelves in a "few months". I'm just going to SSE one as my next handgun purchase.

I just sse'd my Shield 9mm. I got tired of waiting for the CA version to become available. Besides who wants the stupid loaded chamber indicator and mag disconnect.

Shot it for the first time yesterday. It exceeded my expectations in every way.

^^^ Congrats !!! It has exceeded my expectations as well.

The question is whether to enjoy this now:

Or wait for this to be available some time in the future:

I want one. This will be the gun I buy to celebrate when the roster falls

Riflegear has it for 9mm $429. From what I hear, 9mm are almost non-existent from distributors.

Then send it to your favorite shop to SSE. (PM a calguns member baboosh, he SSE Shields.)

I have already read of a ton of people who are using the factory Shield 9mm barrels in Shield .40 frames with no problem. Just call Smith and Wesson parts department they should be able to sell you a Shield 9mm barrel and you can just drop it right into your .40 and off you go.

I have not done it myself but I have read of many who have and they report no big problems with this. fits almost perfectly
