Good point, probably have to make a trip to IE in order to find one though. I do not know of one in the high desert.

The bad news is that Bersa is off the approved gun list. Bersa added a safety feature to the gun and DOJ pushed them off the list. It doesn't have a loaded chamber indicator with the required lettering so even if the micro stamping issue were overturned the gun would not be able to make it onto the list. I was just getting ready to buy a second one when if fell off the list. That's what got me searching for another 380 and why I got the Sig P238. Do note that there are two California legal versions of the P238, one designated HD, it's heavier I believe it is a steel frame rather than alloy. That might also reduce the recoil further.

The muzzle flip on the Bersa is not that much, but for me the gun stings. My wife and two others I know that own the Bersa agree with me on that issue. I don't think anyone will be doing a SSE conversion for the Bersa, it's a blowback design with the barrel affixed to the frame so you'll have to get one via a PPT.

I second the bersa. But ammo isn't cheap. Keep that in mind.

Not something I would choose, but .22LR semi autos have an extremely light recoil spring, so racking the slide is like butter.

I have a Sig P230 and a Beretta 84. The P230 for some odd reason is very tough on my hands. The recoil is very...jolty, to the point of literally hurting my hand. The Beretta 84, on the other hand, is very soft. It's probably the softest semi-auto I have ever shot.

The Walther PK380 is the easiest 380 to operate. If I remember correctly, the slide is easier to operate than the Beretta 84 and the Sig P230. It was soft to shoot. But I don't remember how soft because that was almost 3 years ago when I shot it.

I too have a P238 and can vouch for the ease of racking the slide. Find a store that has both the P238(.380) and the P938(9mm), rack them both and if the P938 is anywhere near similar step up to the 9mm as the P938 is just ever so slightly larger in frame size.
If your wife can't comfortably charge the P238 then it's probably time to start looking at revolvers.

My wife had cancer and with the medications she is on and surgeries she has had she had a problem racking the slide on her 9mm so the hunt was on. There is no way she would look at a revolver just did not want one. We where in a gun store looking at a rifle for her and I asked to look at the sig 238 could not believe how easy the slide worked, handed it to her and 10 days later she loves it and never has had a problem with it.

What about a Beretta 86 they have a tip up barrel so racking isn't needed.Got one for my Grand father when he start to lose hand strength.He carried and shot it till he passed at 90yrs.old

Running into issues with CA DOJ on most of these little guns, seems if it is not very specifically listed by lets say just for example; SKU# Sig Sauer 238-380-LADY, all I spoke to on GB will not sell it and ship it to this state. I have not made it out to Palm Springs or down to IE to look yet though. Had not thought of the Beretta but will look into that as well.

True in most cases but we have an LCR and it is a beast on her wrists....
