A Nazi 1911?
I voted against Obama before it was cool.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. I don't see any Nazi marks on that one on Gunbroker, plus it is missing the original barrel.I had read before about the Norwegian 1911s, but I never knew there were some with the Nazi QC stamp!
And you can own one:

Our resident 1911 collector "beetle" did a nice write-up on his in this thread: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=512066Last edited by redcliff; 02-24-2014, 12:48 PM."You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

My bad on the sale link-unfortunately the photos show up so small on my phone I could not tell if the left side front markings were the nazi stamp or other stamp.
Still a good read though!I voted against Obama before it was cool.

LOL it's the same one. I've been doing some moonlighting on the side writing for TTAG.I don't see any Nazi marks on that one on Gunbroker, plus it is missing the original barrel.

Man, every time I see beetle's gorgeous 1911 I'm stunned by the bluing. I mean, it's just incredible, like jewelry. Especially when I then look at my RIA Tactical, which looks like I painted it with black house paint (parkerizing or whatever).
The word "Gorgeous" is the only word I can think of, and I'm hard pressed to say that unmanly word, but no other words describe the deepness of that bluing.==================

Remember to dial 1 before 911.
Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

I love beetle's posts also, some truly spectacular pistols and great commentary too!
I keep wishing my two WWII Colt 1911a1's would reproduce and multiply but they won't cooperate

...ditto. I had to bring them over to TTAG to get some more eyeballs on them. The site is seeing a lot of traffic these days, and Beetle's collection and great write-ups are more than deserving of some play on there!

Beetle, do you ever shoot all these treasures you have or are they just collectors pieces?Stay Low, Go Fast, Take ChancesComment

Hey Beetle, can you clarify any of the comments on the TTAG post RE Fabrique Nationale? "HighInTheSky" claims his grandfather has one (implying it's a 1911) made by FN during the war w/ Nazi markings, but I'm assuming what he's talking about is a Hi-Power or 1910/1922 or something else... and lower down another person mentioned FN. I don't think they were making 1911's though, right? Only Norway and Argentina had licensed the design [officially]?Comment

correct, FN had the *rights* the 1911 design in Europe, but never actually manufactured any. Instead they asked JMB to design a gun around the 9mm luger that would 1) have high capacity 2) not violate Colt's patents. That gun is the High Power. Like Norway, Belgium was occupied by Germany and had their weapons factories redirected to aid the German war effort. There are quite a few Nazi marked (waffenamt) High Powers out there.Hey Beetle, can you clarify any of the comments on the TTAG post RE Fabrique Nationale? short answer: Yes I shoot some
Long answer: "it depends"
depends on a couple of different factors, value, rarity, uniqueness of the experience, and weapon reputation for reliability.
I have no issues shooting M1 Carbines and Garands, because I know they were designed well and in all likelihood I could probably find replacement parts if needed.
For 1911s I tend not to shoot them because frankly, I'd get nothing out of the experience. How would it be different than shooting any other 1911?
Sometimes I break my own rules because of the uniqueness of the experience. For example, I recently shot my M41 Johnson. Now normally the rareness and value would stop me from shooting it. But I took a chance to shoot it, and got something out of the experience. It was fun/neat to shoot.
as I said, "it depends"
