Depending on the gun, round count is relative. Like what a previous poster stated, Kel Tec states its guns have a life span of 6000 rounds. I can go through 6000 rounds in about 2 years, and I don't shoot a lot.

Sigs, Glocks, HKs, S&Ws, Rugers, they all probably have life expectancies in excess of 100,000 rounds. 1000 rounds here and 2000 rounds there really don't matter to them. The overall condition and especially the wear on the irreplaceable parts (frame rails) are more important.

There are honest and dishonest folks every where.

Most of my guns are sold with very low to zero round out, I'm one of those guys who buy guns and never shoot them then flip them later, I've sold numerous guns here with zero to 40 rd count.

I just sold a shotgun that my son gave me, advertised as less than one box of shells through it, I had a guy email me callying me all kinds of names and accusing me of being a liar because there was no way to verify round count, I had to just say WTF! JR. Move on backpage scum. This week end we found the remainder of my kids she'lls, 9 RD's missing, so rd count 9.

Call me crazy but I tend to give most Calgun members the benifit of the doubt, if I'm quoted a low rd count, mayby I'm gullible but I normally believe it unless gun inspection shows otherwise.

I'm curios as to how you've proved stated rd count was miss represented ?

I have some rifles I've had for 30 yrs, that have less than 50 rounds through them, my SA SAR-8 that I've had for 20ish years has less than75, probably more like 45.

That was just a joke on the other thing often seen in sale ads.

I'd always be wary about any round count listed. There are honest people out there, but I tend to believe that there are more dishonest people, especially when trying to make a buck.

One of the guys at Reed's was telling me that they called Glock to tell them that they had a rental gun with almost 400,000 rounds through it. Glock told them, yeah, call us when you hit one million.

I don't think that a few hundred rounds or even a few thousand is anything to worry about assuming the gun was cleaned and cared for in other respects.

I'm still waiting for the OP to divulge how he was able to tell someone listed a false round count for a firearm. I really want to learn from his expertise in judging wear on firearms to be able to know this for future reference since I like to buy used guns.

He already said. He said he stalks the seller and if the seller was a buyer he stalks their seller as well.

I am an impulse buyer. I buy stuff and then I shoot a couple mags, then put it back in the safe and don't touch it again for a year or so. Then I decide that if I only shot it once in a year, then I probably shouldn't hang on to it, and should buy something I want more. Then, a couple years down the road I wish I hadn't sold the first one to begin with. So most of my sales have only a couple hundred rounds through them.

From going through a bunch of guns, what irks me is that it doesn't matter what the round count is. It could have 50rds through it. Then they will offer you $150 less than what you have it listed for. What I really get a kick from is people that insist on having a box and paperwork for something like a Glock. I can understand wanting box and paperwork for something rare or with like 30 years old. But a 4 year old Glock?

Unless you are buying one of the disposable firearms listed above round count has little to do with price. Condition dictates price. I have a few hand guns with 20,000+ rounds down the tube. Each one of them is tight, clean, and looking like new with bright bores with exception to a little holster wear. The holster wear will knock the price quicker than the round count.

I agree that a lot of people shoot a few rounds and get rid of the gun....I am not one of them. I bought a Kimber 1911 used that appeared to have low use. Condition was great but dirty. I cleaned it up and promptly put 500 rounds through it on the first day. I realized why it was sold and did a little custom polishing and fitting and then put another 500 through it the next day.

All my carry guns get this treatment...they get shot a lot. I have only sold two guns in my life....the first was a very large 44 mag that I did not shoot much (500 rounds in the year) and the second was a 10mm revolver that was junk and had made two trips back to the maker after 6-7 hundred rounds. I sold it back to the dealer.

Learn what to look for and stay away from cheap guns when buying used.

The OP should consider to buy everything NIB. At the end of the day, the biggest chunk of the cost is the ammo.

I've seen counterbored arsenal rebuilt mil-surplus here advertised as "new and unfired".

Of course, round count means nothing to people who actually shoot their guns.

The last two PPT's I got from fellow Calgunners, had only the factory test rounds fired. For different reasons they were selling them without having ever shot them. They were truthful in the round count and their reason for selling.
I am always accurate with the round counts, when I post a gun for sale. To me any gun with less then 5000 fired is a low round count.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

200 rounds is not a lot of rounds through it. I can do that in one break in session. I've purchased pistols and a rifle with a 1k through it. If it was maintained and looks good I have no issues, especially if it's priced right. As stated above I'll know at about 4-500 rounds whether or not the pistol is right for me. If not, it goes on the market.
