Pick another state, really..

Since I went with the Springfield RO, what makes it not CA legal? I currently reside in Ohio. We are moving in about 5-6 years to CA.

There is NOTHING wrong with your gun, except you want to own it in The Peoples Republik. California laws and DOJ rules makes it illegal.

We have no choice in the matter. I hate the thought but it is what it is. Hopefully I can just pay the fees to "import" my owned firearms into the country of Commyfornia. I own mostly CandR, only "modern" stuff is a single shot 20 gauge, Remington 870, Ruger LCP and the Springfield RO.

+1 Springfield Range Officer. There will be other Colts that are not damaged for you to add at a later time. Sorry but I don't buy any kind of dropped or damaged weapon for fear of malfunction in a time of need. Good luck with your quest.

1. Springfield Range Officer for $725 New

2. Colt 1991 Govt A1 that was dropped by employee and has very small dings on slide serration, hammer, bushing, back of grip other than that new as well $786.

California gun laws are weird. There is nothing "illegal" about an SA RA. It's not on the "Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale" by the California Department of Justice. You cannot purchase a handgun from a dealer that is not on the "Roster." You can, however, purchase a "non-roster" gun in a private party transfer done through an FFL. You can also purchase a "non-roster" handgun through a "single-shot exemption."

Do not move to California. This state sucks. Left-wing nanny-state fascist control freaks run this State, and it's only going to get worse. Colorado has relatively better gun laws, and when their anti-gun politicians get out of hand, they are recalled in short order. Colorado is also more enlightened regarding their drug laws.

Why settle for an underpowered handgun when you can have one chambered in .357 magnum?

I would just hold out for a Springfield loaded - I really don't like the look of adjustable sights nor do I like the '91s but that is basically the 70 vs 80 series debate.
