AR Pistol Upper

Hey guys, I am currently purchasing parts for an AR Pistol build. I already have my 80% lower ready to go, bullet button, and 0 rd mag sled. I just ordered one of PSA's pistol build kits with the pistol only buffer tube. I am now looking at upper receivers. I am leaning toward an Adams Arms 11.5'' upper. What are your guy's latest experiences with pistol uppers?

I've been shopping around for pistol uppers and I found some that I like when you have a chance stop by civ-tactical he is a calgun vender and hes stuff looks good useing name brand parts when he build the uppers

My only pistol upper is a blowback 9mm, but I do have an Adams Arms carbine upper and have been extremely pleased with the quality. Everything about them is top notch. Very, very good machining and finish on every last part. I really like the design of the bolt carrier. The fit/finish/machining on the rails, gas block, etc is great. 1:7 twist, chrome lined, hammer forged, 5.56 chambered barrel...

The three adjustments on the gas block are effective. Off is literally off, and the action remains full locked. Medium won't reliably cycle .223 unless you're running a suppressor, in which case it is perfect. 5.56 usually cycles fine on medium but you can tell it doesn't eject with as much authority as it "should." High is your normal setting, and it cycles like a charm. The action is extremely consistent -- I've never seen such neat piles of brass before. If I'm in one place, like shooting from a table set up in the woods, I will find the fired brass literally stacked in a pile like 8 feet away.

I think running a piston upper on a pistol build is a great idea. IMHO.

Be sure to complete your sse pistol lower before you have a pistol upper.

Thanks for all the input so far. I will definitely complete the sse lower before I put the upper on it. I will probably create a build thread for a little CYA.

What exactly do you want to know? My experience is that 10" + is best for overall reliability and keeping the ballistics of the 5.56 round. That being said, There are plenty of guys who run 7.5" ish barrels without issue as well

Cant go wrong with adam arms. Psa has the 10.5 which I have and the 12 with bcg and ch if you are in the market for saving money.
