    Beretta 92/96 comments suggestions?

I have always wanted a beretta pistol since the first time I shot one. I am looking at getting a 92/96 and I just don't know what round is best 40. Or 9mm. they usually priced comparably but does one sell in bulk cheaper? Any other + or - on the calabers or beretta pistols I know I could ask questions at the gun stores but they will just want me to buy something.

If I were you, and I assume it is highly likely your stuck with 10 rd mags, I would get the 40.

I would go with the 9mm, the 40 is good but solely based on capacity which is what it basically comes down to between the 92 and 96 IMHO even if you could get standard mags for the 96 you still only get 11-13rd compared to the 92 you can get 15-30rd. So that's why I went with the 9mm 92

        Heres my 92FS Centurion

My view of the 9mm is the advantage of large capacity magazines.
Failing that I would default to a larger caliber.

the 9mm shoots smoothly that's for sure. But I don't know why people are posting about capacity, we are unfortunately limited to 10 rounds anyways. If I only had one semiauto pistol and one caliber it would be the 40 cal. But if you have other firearms the 9mm is great and cheaper to shoot when you can find 9mm.l

Id say go to a range where you can rent them both.Shoot some and see which you like best. Most gunshops will show you guns and answer any questions you have without just wanting you to buy something. The whole 9mm vs .40 thing is beat to death,id say its whatever feels best to you.I have a 92fs inox 9mm and love it.

If you're looking at the 92/96 platform, I'd suggest looking at the next generation of those and consider the PX4. It's what I have myself and I love it. Almost a year I've owned it with no issues about feeding, firing, etc. Recoil is less than a 92, and stripping is super easy.

                    92F if you don't want a light, M9A1
if you do. Utterly dependable pistol. I have close to 10K through my duty gun and privately owned Berettas.

Show me a 92F that doesn't work right and I'll show you an improperly maintained weapon, a limpwristed shooter, or a bad magazine. This is a gun that just runs and runs.

Both the 92 and 96 are great pistols. My 96 Brigadier Inox is still my favorite gun to shoot, and the one I shoot the best. You can't go wrong with either, but the 92s show up most often for sale as they're more common.

I'd go with an M9A1 in 9mm personally.
                        Actually, I just did

Go to Walmart, look on the ammo shelves and all you see are weirdo hunting rounds and .40S&W.

Sure 9mm is a bit cheaper .... IF YOU CAN FIND IT!

I'm not a Beretta guy, but dang-nabbit, they make sexy guns. The Italians understand aesthetics, that's for sure!
