With that budget, I recommend getting a two 1911s.
I assume you are new to 1911, so the following will be base on that. If it was me, I would get a Rock Island GI or Tactical and then a nice 1911 like Les Bare.
The RIA would be good to tinker with so that you can learn the platform. Would not be nice to put an idiot scratch on a $2K new 1911.

Get the RIA Tactical. Shoot it for thousands of rounds. Write down what you like/hate/don'tcare about it. Then go order that nice Les Baer with that list in hand. A nice custom is awesome but ... custom what? How would you like to customize it if you don't know what you like in a 1911?
So get the cheaper one, then shoot it before getting the nice one.
But no-one listens to me.
Get a Springfield TRP and be happy.
